Carter and the rest of the town are surprised by the arrival of Susan Perkins, a dead woman whose funeral they've all just attended. 
3 (1-03) "Before I Forget" 1 August 2006
When a world renowned scientist arrives in Eureka, Jack and Henry suddenly find that they cannot account for blocks of time. 
4 (1-04) "Alienated" 8 August 2006
Spencer is apparently abducted by aliens and then returned to earth the next day inside a crop circle. Also, the town is visited by the congressman whose committee is responsible for its government funding.

The artifact imbues a scientist with wondrous healing powers, but at a terrible price.

Some of Eureka's prominent residents are locked inside Carter's house when S.A.R.A.H. (the house's computer) becomes fed up with the townsfolk's attitudes to one another.

Nathan Stark is given the opportunity to investigate "the Artifact." After it is tested, we cut to 2010 and Eureka is a very different place.
