'V' got it's start as an extremely successful miniseries in 1983, based on what if aliens came to earth as great politicians pretending to  want what was best for earth and all humankind. These aliens turn out to be similar to Nazis promising peace but delivering destruction.  It was followed in 1984 by a second ratings smash, "V: The Final Battle", and the powers that be  made the inevitable decision to proceed with a weekly series based on the premise of an Open City, where the freedom fighters would continue their fight against the Visitors.   The series was a little bit of a let down. V was too expensive a production to be a weekly series, so stock footage was used from the mini series, and it's stories were just no where near as exciting. The series was cancelled after only 19 episodes.
