Star Wars Trivia and Facts Star Wars TV History Of course we all know the movie came out with great success in 1977. The first time a TV show was inspired by Star Wars was 1978 with The Star Wars Holiday Special. The plot is that Luke Skywalker and Han Solo battle evil Imperial forces to help Chewbacca reach his imperiled family on the Wookiee planet - in time for Life Day, their most important day of the year. George Lucas hated this holiday special so much he has said he would like to smash every bootleg copy of it in existence. The Ewok Adventure was followed by Ewoks the Battle for Endor. In 1985 two cartoons debuted n ABC featuring the droids R2D2 and C3PO and the Ewoks. After the cartoon series went off the air. There was a good long dry spell for Star Wars. Even the popular Marvel comic book series was eventually canceled. Of course Star Wars heated up again when Lucas decided to add to the Star Wars series. Star Wars 2003 TV In 2003 Star Wars hit the tube again with a cartoon series on the Cartoon Network called Star Wars: Clone Wars. These were mini cartoons later shown all together most recently a week before the release of the Revenge of the Sith. Star Wars Movie Trivia In a recent interview in Flick magazine, according to Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker he said that he had to keep the I'm your Father Darth Vader scene a secret for more than a year from everybody including cast members and family. Star Wars when first released hit a total of only 43 theaters in May of 1977 before hitting a wide release in July of 1977 of 1,750 theaters. Mark Hamill is a huge comic book fan.
