New The Invaders First Season on DVD

The Invaders, a Quinn Martin Production, was on ABC for a season and a half between 1967 and 1968.  It was a classic sci-fi hit created by Larry Cohen. Even though it only lasted a short time it became a popular hit over the years.

Trivia Facts

Invaders star Roy Thinnes first got regular work in television as the character Phil Brewer on the soap opera General Hospital in 1963.  One brief disappearance from the show created a flood of protest mail.
His most recent TV appearance was on another Soap Opera as himself on One Life to Live.

In 1965 Roy Thinnes got his own TV series on The Long, Hot Summer a 1965 television version of the 1958 movie hit.

Gold Key Comics published four issues of an Invaders comic book based upon the TV series in 1967-68, years before Marvel Comics published their own, unrelated Invaders superhero series.

Roy Thinnes appeared in the 1995 TV mini series as David Vincent. He also appeared on the X-files as an alien, and appeared on the 1990 Dark Shadows.

Invaders character David Vincent was ranked number 6 in TV Guides list of the 25 Greatest Sci-Fi Legends in an August 2004 edition.

A pre-Internet urban legend (of the missing show kind) has circulated about a hypothetic final episode of the original series. According to it, David Vincent finally manages to convince the authorities and the mainstream of the Invaders' plans, and a massive invasion attempt is successfully thwarted. However, the final scene shows Vincent speaking through a transmitter to a different species of space invaders, to tell them that the coast was now clear -i.e. Vincent's fight had taken place in his position as a mercenary of the second alien race.

In 1995 the series was reprised as a three-hour TV miniseries also titled The Invaders. Scott Bakula starred as Nolan Wood, who discovered the alien conspiracy, and Roy Thinnes reprised his role from the series of David Vincent, now an old man handing the burden over to Wood. The mini series unfortunately was no where near the same quality as the series.
