Favorite words of wisdom from Sledge Hammer.

Trust me - I know what I'm doing!

All cops face violence. The ones who can't deal with it crack. The ones who do, teach.

I don't watch the news. I make it.

From the episode Hammeroid where Hammer becomes a RoboCop: Trust me, I am cognizant of what I am doing!

New Sledge Hammer as President in the new movie, "The Sentinel"

Sledge Hammer was the story of a cop who loved his gun and was as tough as Dirty Harry!

Sledge Hammer was the story of a cop who loved his gun and was as tough as Dirty Harry! The show had the kind of humor I personally enjoy. It was sophisticated with lots of action. Sledge was a guy who wasn't afraid to show his emotions. He often told his gun how much he loved it. What's not to like? Sledge was never the kind of guy bleeding heart liberals could like, but hey it takes a tough guy to rid the streets of the criminal element.

Maybe Sledge didn't have a Ferrari like Magnum P.I. or even a Dodge Charger with a Confederate flag painted on it, but the show had a lot of action. One episode Sledge blew away a whole building with a rocket launcher just to get one scum. What a guy, not only was he tough on crime but he also saved the taxpayers money in demolishing an old building. Bruce Willis eat your heart out. If Sledge Hammer had been in Die Hard, the movie would have only lasted 30 minutes. Sledge would have killed all the bad guys in the first 20 minutes with time to thank his gun appropriately.

Bill Bixby on Hammer

Bixby fans get the second season of Sledge Hammer He directs a lot of episodes that year, and even has a cameo. You just wouldn't believe Bill would take on comedy, but he did a great job with Sledge Hammer.

There is even a tribute to him in the extras. Of course Bill was also involved with the 80's show Blossom that starred Joey Lawrence. Now there's two shows that are wildly different.

Hope you've enjoyed our mini look back at America's greatest hero. I for one wanted to grow up just like Sledge when I was a kid and (tears in my eyes) my wife says I'm just as smart as Sledge Hammer. Take that liberal scum of the world!

My kid is already a huge fan of Sledge Hammer. Wow, think if all kids would grow up idolizing Sledge Hammer. There would be no criminals left on the planet!

Trust me I know what I'm doing!
