A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does
not exist. Knight Rider the TV series ran from 1982 to 1986. It
starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight.. But the main attraction
of Knight Rider was Michael Knight's car, KITT a trans am. KITT was no
ordinary car , it was a trans am that could talk, and that's not all
the Knight Rider KITT had a special function, this trans am had turbo
boost. This function enabled Michael and KITT to literally jump over
semi trucks, and obtain speeds that no ordinary car could dream of if
a car could dream. The series most interesting episodes included the
pilot, the episode where KARR KITT's evil twin is introduced where
Larry from Bob Newhart takes a ride in KARR. There was Garth Knight ,
Michael's evil twin and a suped up semi truck named Goliath. About
the same time this episode came out there was a free blue print of
some new modifications to KITT that I personally sent off for.
Michael 's Boss was Devon Miles at the Foundation for Law and
Order, and the mechanics were either Bonnie or April, depending on
which season it was.

Knight Rider Facts and Trivia
KITT stands for Knight Industries Two Thousand
Michael Knight's real name was Michael Long
The actor who did KITT's voice also played on St. Elsewhere and
Boy's World.
David Hasselhoff not only is one of the world's most popular
actors thanks to Bay Watch, he is also considered a rock star in some
countries.
The Trans Am and Camero are no longer going to be produced.
* When asked about KITT's whereabouts, David Hasselhoff
indicates that, like Roy Rogers did to Trigger, KITT is now stuffed and mounted
in Hasselhoff's living room. Actually, one of the cars used became Hasselhoff's
personal property at the end of production and was sold into a private
collection in 1992. It can now be seen at the Cars of the Stars Motor Museum in
Keswick, Cumbria, England.
* KITT was designed by customizer Michael Scheffe. The convertible and
super-pursuit KITTs were designed and built by George Barris.
* Hasselhoff and "KITT" appeared in an episode of Diff'rent Strokes, but Daniels
did not provide the voice.
* KITT accompanied Hasselhoff when he performed onstage, singing one of his
songs at Disneyland back in 1985, with various Disney characters behind him as
his band.
* KITT appeared in a AT&T television commercial with other robotic entertainment
stars as Robby the Robot, WOPR, and Rosie the Robot Maid.
* KITT's scanner is similar to that of Cylons from the science fiction series
Battlestar Galactica. Glen A. Larson, the creator of both Knight Rider and
Battlestar Galactica has stated that the two shows have nothing else in common
and to remove any fan speculation, he stated in the Season One Knight Rider DVD
audio-comments, that he simply reused the scanning light for KITT because he
liked the effect. In an episode of the original incarnation of Battlestar
Galactica, the character Starbuck pilots a new type of Viper that has an A.I.
installed into it named CORA, which was able to pilot the craft and verbally
interact with a human pilot (similar to KITT).
* KITT appeared on stage and sang a duet with Nick Lachey during the one hour
special, The Nick and Jessica Variety Hour.
* KITT was reunited with Hasselhoff in a season 1 episode of the variety
show/talent show America's Got Talent, on which Hasselhoff was a judge.
Burlesque dancer Michelle L'amour brought a replica of KITT onto center stage
while strip-dancing to a remix of the Knight Rider theme. The following evening,
Hasselhoff incorporated the KITT replica into his musical performance of "Jump
in My Car" on stage.
* David Hasselhoff drives the only right hand drive KITT replica built in his
music video "Jump in My Car" since the video was shot in Sydney, Australia, with
the car coming from Victoria, Australia.
* According to an appearance on MTV Cribs, Joey Fatone owns one of the actual
KITT cars used on the series.
* In the Futurama episode "The Honking", the werecar Project Satan is said to be
made of the parts of the most evil cars in the world, including KITT's
windshield wipers. After Fry pointed out that KITT was not evil, it was said
that he indeed wasn't, but that his wipers were.
* In the Simpsons episode "Milhouse Doesn't Live Here Anymore", KITT is featured
in an exhibit at the Museum of Television and TV titled "Things that shouldn't
talk... but do".
* Also in the Simpsons, KITT was animated in the episode "The Wizard of
Evergreen Terrace".
* In Team Knight Rider, K.I.T.T. was revealed as an orb and the main generator
of TKR’s advisor known only as “The Shadow”.
* On April 4, 2007, one of the four KITT cars used in production of the
television series was put up for sale for $149,995 by Johnny Verhoek of
Kassabian Motors, Dublin, California.
* David Hasselhoff appeared in an episode of the claymation series Celebrity
Deathmatch, fighting on a Baywatch style ring. After David was heavily injured
by John Tesh, KITT jumped on Tesh, crushing him. KITT's body was a dune buggy.
* In the 2006 film The Benchwarmers, Jon Lovitz's character owned and drove KITT,
attempting a peel out in a Pizza Hut parking lot.
* In the video Bloom 06's new single, "Un'altra Come Te", KITT is prominently
featured.
* Both KITT and Michael were featured in 'Robot Chicken'. When Michael goes to a
fancy restaurant with a date, he lets the vallet park KITT, who instead takes
him for a joy ride and seriously damages him.
* On MythBusters Adam and Jamie tested whether KITT could in fact drive up the
ramp into the mobile garage or whether upon hitting the ramp he would instantly
accelerate into the truck and through the wall. Jamie was able to drive an 80's
sports car at 55mph up the ramp into a moving truck.
* For the halloween episode, it transforms into a warriors in Pink Special
Edition Mustang in support of October being breast cancer awareness month (This
episode was supposed to be aired in October)
Pilot
Self-made billionaire Wilton Knight rescues police detective Michael Long after
a near fatal shot to the face, giving him a new identity (via plastic surgery)
and a new name: Michael Knight. Wilton selects Michael to be the muscle in the
pilot program of his Knight Foundation-funded public justice organization, the
Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG). The other half of this pilot program
is the Knight Industries Two Thousand, a car controlled by a computer with
artificial intelligence, KITT. Michael and KITT are brought in during situations
where "direct action might provide the only feasible solution."
Heading FLAG is Devon Miles, who provides Michael with directives and guidance.
Dr. Bonnie Barstow is the chief engineer in charge of KITT's care, as well as
technical assistant to Devon. (April Curtis fills this role in Season 2).
Spinoffs/Sequels
Code of Vengeance
The two part episode "Mouth of the Snake" served as a backdoor pilot for a short
lived series entitled Code of Vengeance, revolving around Vietnam vet David
Dalton. The Knight Rider episode featured David exhibiting great gymnastics, not
unlike The Six Million Dollar Man sans bionics, but when Code of Vengeance
aired, Dalton was an ordinary-skilled drifter. It soon fell off the schedules
after only five episodes.
Knight Rider 2000
Knight Rider 2000, a 1991 sequel movie featuring Michael Knight and Devon Miles,
who is killed, with KITT being given a new sporty red body (a close facsimilie
of the Pontiac Banshee IV concept car, was actually a Dodge Stealth with custom
body work) as the Knight 4000, and serving as a Television pilot for a would-be
new series starring Susan Norman as Shawn McCormick, but it did not sell.
Knight Rider 2010
Knight Rider 2010 is a 1994 movie loosely based on the show. In this version, a
Classic 1969 Ford Mustang replaces the previously used Pontiac Trans Am;
additionally, as there are so few links to the original show, it may not be
considered canon other than for carrying the Knight Rider title. The film was
penned by Miami Vice writer John Leekley.
Team Knight Rider
In 1997, Team Knight Rider was introduced as a spinoff. Set sometime in the near
future, the show featured a fleet of intelligent vehicles. Michael Knight
returned at the end of the final episode of the first season, not however,
played by David Hasselhoff. This was a cliffhanger intended to be explained in
the next season. However, the show did not catch on and the second season was
not commissioned. Team Knight Rider ran for 22 episodes.
2008 television movie & sequel
On September 26, 2007, NBC announced that it was creating a two-hour backdoor
pilot to air later that season. In the new version, Justin Bruening stars as
the estranged son of Michael Knight, Mike Traceur. Deanna Russo plays Traceur's one-time girlfriend and love interest, Sarah Graiman.Bruce Davison
co-stars as her father, physicist Charles Graiman, the original designer of KITT
(Knight Industries Two Thousand). Wayne Kasserman co-stars as Mike's roommate
and friend. David Hasselhoff also has a cameo as Michael Knight. KITT is
portrayed as a Ford Shelby GT 500 KR Mustang.
Supervising producer Dave Andron wrote the pilot script, Doug Liman and Dave
Bartis executive produced it. NBC announced on December 13, 2007 that the new
2-hour pilot will air on February 17, 2008. Val Kilmer recorded the voice for
the new KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) Mustang (the part had been
recorded by Will Arnett, but he was asked to withdraw by General Motors because
of Arnett's prior agreements with GM on advertising.), and Sydney Tamiia
Poitier, the youngest daughter of Sidney Poitier, played FBI agent Carrie Rivai.
After receiving good ratings, NBC announced that Knight Rider will return as a
weekly series beginning in the fall of 2008. The show airs Wednesdays at
8:00pm/7:00pm CT. The series premiered September 24, 2008 on NBC. In November
2008, NBC announced that the series had been picked up for a complete 22-episode
season but that several cast members would be leaving and the storylines
revamped after the original 13-episode order.
Film adaptation
In March 2002, Revolution Studios announced a partnership with Mayhem Pictures
to create a film adaptation of the TV series. The film would be re-designed to
be similar to Revolution's previous project, XXX. Series creator Glen A. Larson
was hired to write the first script draft, with the series' lead actor David
Hasselhoff attached to advise the project and also have an onscreen role. In
April 2003, Revolution Studios hired screenwriters David Elliott and Paul Lovett
to pen the film's script. In April 2004, the premise of the film was
described to have Hasselhoff reprise his role as Michael Knight, though he would
be an elder statesman that would serve as a mentor to the protagonist like the
character Devon Miles mentored Knight in the TV series. The protagonist would be
Knight's son, inheriting the family business and driving the vehicle KITT. The
producers' choice for the role was actor Ben Affleck. The series' voice of KITT, William Daniels, was being sought by Hasselhoff to reprise his role.
In May 2006, The Weinstein Company acquired film rights to adapt Knight Rider
from series creator Larson. He expressed his interest in the film adaptation as
a potential franchise property. The following September, Hasselhoff invited
actor Orlando Bloom to portray Knight's son in the film adaptation, but Bloom
turned down the offer.[13] In April 2007, Hasselhoff said that the film was in
development at Miramax, and that he would at least have a cameo in the film.
