Jericho Overview
The Sci-Fi drama series Jericho is produced by
CBS Paramount Network Television, with executive producers Jon
Turteltaub, Stephen Chbosky and Carol Barbee. The show premiered on
Wednesday, September 20, 2006 on CBS.
Jericho tells the story of the residents of Jericho, a fictitious small
rural Kansas town, following a series of nuclear
explosions across the continental United States. The show begins with a
visible nuclear explosion of unknown origin in nearby Denver, Colorado
and a loss of power and modern communications, effectively isolating
Jericho. The town starts to come apart at the seams as terror, anger and
confusion bring out the very worst in some residents.
When a school bus crashes as a result of the explosion, Jake Green
(Skeet Ulrich), the town mayor's prodigal son, becomes a reluctant hero
when he drives the bus full of children back to town. Mayor Johnston
Green (Gerald McRaney) is conflicted with the return of his estranged
son, but must deal with more pressing matters when the town begins to
riot. In this time of crisis, as sensible people become paranoid,
personal agendas take over and well-kept secrets threaten to be
revealed, some people will find an inner strength they never knew they
had, and the most unlikely heroes will emerge.
Power is later restored to Jericho by what is alluded to as the efforts
of the U.S. government, but soon after an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse)
disables all electronics.

Reported Bomb Sites A mushroom cloud is seen rising in the west from
Jericho in the very first episode, and is
presumed to be from Denver, Colorado. This is
later confirmed by the Chinese news broadcast
(marked: 丹佛), and a pilot on the recovered
cockpit voice recorder tape reports that he sees
the same mushroom cloud from Denver. In the
second episode, fallout from this explosion
reaches Jericho during a rainstorm.
Atlanta, Georgia is presumed to be attacked
based on an answering machine message left for
Dale Turner by his mother during the first
episode. The message stops abruptly as we hear
voices react to an explosion. This attack is
later confirmed by the Chinese news broadcast
(亞特蘭大).
Chicago, Illinois is confirmed to be destroyed
based on the Chinese news broadcast (芝加哥) and
Robert Hawkins' map.
Los Angeles, California is confirmed by the
Chinese news broadcast (洛杉矶), and confirmed by
Hawkins' map.
Dallas, Texas is confirmed by the Chinese news
broadcast (达拉斯); a pilot is heard saying that he
sees a mushroom cloud "somewhere in Texas" on
the cockpit voice recorder.
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is on Robert Hawkins'
map; the copy that his son draws in crayon has
two red dots.
San Diego, California is marked on Robert
Hawkins' map.
San Francisco, California (旧金山) is identified in
the Chinese news broadcast.
Seattle, Washington is confirmed to have been
attacked according to the Chinese news
broadcast, as it is occasionally visible through
the static.
Minneapolis, Minnesota is on Robert Hawkins'
map; it also appears on the bar map, although it
is unclear as to how the patrons knew this.
Detroit, Michigan is marked on Robert Hawkins'
map.
St. Louis appears on the map in the bar but not
on Hawkins' Map; the Air National Guard fighters
are presumed to have taken off from Lambert
Airport, which is in/near St. Louis.
Washington, D.C. was attacked and is 'gone' as
reported by Gray Anderson, one of the 'horsemen'
who returned from exploring outlying areas.
Kansas City, Missouri was presumed to be
destroyed based on the cockpit voice recorder
tape and Robert Hawkins' map. Upon his return,
Gray Anderson reports that Lawrence, Kansas had
been attacked; given the proximity of the two
cities, it is possible that this explosion could
have been mistaken for Kansas City by the pilot
on the cockpit voice recorder.
New Orleans, Louisiana is identified on Robert
Hawkins' map. (It is not visible from all angles
due to continuity issues.)
Cincinnati, Ohio is listed as having been
attacked when Eric recognizes the skyline in
news footage. This is not supported by any other
source.
Boston, Massachusetts appears on a reproduction
of Robert Hawkins' map created by his son; the
accuracy of this map is unknown.
Las Vegas, Nevada was apparently destroyed (or
severely damaged) by a nuclear device in the
webisode "Beyond Jericho". Due to the
cancellation of that series, it is unknown if
that event remains canonical to the show.
Reported survivors
Topeka, Kansas is described as the source of the
Homeland Security telephone calls in the fifth
episode, indicating that Topeka has at least
partly survived. Gray Anderson reported that
FEMA had set up just outside of Topeka and was
attacked as they were leaving the city in a FEMA
truck.
New York City was originally reported as
attacked in the Chinese broadcast (marked: 紐約),
but was later reported as spared by Gray
Anderson. Gray reports the capture of three men
in a rental truck, who were in possession of a
20-kiloton nuclear device in a steel drum,
moments before the device could be detonated.
(The New York arrests are credited to heightened
security following the September 11, 2001 World
Trade Center attacks.)
