Hogan's Heroes 50's -60's Fun Facts

Hogan's Heroes, a 1960's television show set in World War 2 about a bunch war prisoners in a Nazi prison camp, focused on Colonel Hogan who just pretended to be a prisoner to destroy the Nazis war factories, plans, and secret weapons right under their noses.

 Trivia:

  • Robert Clary, who played LeBeau, was actually a survivor of the Holocaust.

  • Werner Klemperer and John Banner (I), who play the chief Germans Klink and Schultz, were in fact both Jewish.
  • Lasted on the air for 7 years, although American involvement in WWII actually lasted less than 4 years.
  • Werner Klemperer only agreed to play Col. Klink, once he was assured, by the show's creator, that Klink would never succeed in his schemes.
  • The black and white pilot episode originally included a Russian character.
