Dukes Trivia Facts The General Lee is a 1969 Dodge Charger muscle car. In 1983, the series also spawned a spin-off Saturday Morning cartoon called The Dukes. Made by Hanna-Barbera, this series concerned an around-the-world car race between the Dukes and Boss Hogg. The first episodes used Coy and Vance Duke, but when Bo and Luke came back to the real show, they also became the cartoon Dukes as well. Rosco's dog, a basset hound, was named Flash. Cooter goes on to become a Congressman in the 1997 Dukes Reunion Movie which is exactly what Ben Jones the actor did in real life. Ben Jones now owns Cooter's
Place in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, and Nashville Tn. At Cooter's Place
you can see the General Lee and get autographs. Sometimes the stars of the
show appear especially Ben Jones. So far Ben Jones has said he thinks the new Dukes of Hazzard movie has too much profanity in it for younger viewers. John Schneider plays the role of Jonathan Kent on the very popular WB hit Smallville. On one episode entitled "Nicodemus" Pa Kent is seen listening to the Dukes of Hazzard theme song while driving his truck down the road. John Schneider is co-founder of the Children's Miracle Network charity organization, along with Marie Osmond. The organization helps children around the United States. James Best is not just known for his role as Rosco P. Coltrane he also did some great work on some classic Twilight Zone episodes, and the Andy Griffith Show where on one episode he get's locked up in the slammer. Fellow Dukes star Denver Pyle was also seen on the Andy Griffith Show more than once in his part as the mountain man with the big family, Briscoe Darling. Of course the Andy Griffith show had another famous Pyle too, Gomer Pyle. Cletus (Rick Hurst) first tv appearance was in 1972 as a police officer on Sanford and Son.
First Air Date: January 26,1979 Filming Location I still wish they would have continued to film the Dukes in Georgia instead of Hollywood. It really gave the show an authentic feel versus a phony Hollywood set look. Get Cinescape delivered to your door. |
