The wonder years invaded the television screen for five
long years (1988-1993). It is a mixture of drama, family and
comedy genre. It has six memorable seasons that touched the
hearts of the viewers. Created by Carol Black and Neal
Marlens, The wonder years deal with the social issues and
historic events of the 1960’s and early 1970’s.It has
achieved a spot in Nielsen Top Ten awards for two of its
seasons. It also won an Emmy for the best comedy series in
1988 after airing six episodes. In addition to this, the
series was also awarded a George Foster Peabody award in
1989.
The show’s main sound track is Joe Crocker’s “With the
help of my friends” song. The main characters are as
follows, Fred Savage as Kevin Arnold, Danica Mckellar as
Gwendolyne Cooper, Josh Saviano as Paul Pfeiffer, Dan Lauria
as Jack Arnold, Alley Millis as Norma Arnold, Olivia D’Abo
as Karen Arnold and Jason Hervey as Wayne Arnold. Adult
Kevin Arnold reminisces and narrates his past experiences,
specifically his teenage years how he deals with his
problems and how he learn for his own experiences in life.
As he goes from adolescence to adulthood, he experiences,
along with his best friend Paul and sometimes-girlfriend
Winnie, the full range of trials and traumas that come in
just about everyone's life.
The main character Kevin also deals with middle and high
school problems, encounters puberty, has ups and downs with
childhood sweetheart Winnie, deals with older brother Wayne,
and hangs out with geeky-but-lovable Paul.“The wonder years”
is a perfect example of what a real life is. It includes the
problems, ups and downs and all the things an ordinary
teenager deals with.
