TV show about a talking, crime-fighting car? In 1982, NBC first
aired the smash hit Knight Rider, a show about a crime-fighter
who has a high-tech arsenal of help in KITT, a highly customized
Pontiac Trans Am. The human hero character was Michael Knight,
an undercover cop whose mission in life is to fight crime for
the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG), with the
assistance of the Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT). The car
was impervious to attack, and was heavily armed with
flamethrowers, smoke bombs and infrared sensing devices. Its
computer persona had its own personality, and regularly
interacted with Knight. The show ran for four years.
