Seinfeld was created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld and starred Jerry Seinfeld as himself, Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Elaine Marie Benes, Michael Richards as Cosmo Kramer, and Jason Alexander as George Louis Costanza. The show ran from 1990-1998 on NBC, and was one of the most watched TV shows of the 1990's. It still runs in syndication today. In 2002, Seinfeld was ranked #1 by TV Guide on its list of the top 50 greatest shows of all time.

Seinfeld has been notoriously described as "the show about nothing" (a self-referential phrase from an episode describing Seinfeld and George's attempt to create a sitcom idea), since most of the comedy was based around the trivial details of everyday life, and often involved petty rivalries and elaborate schemes to gain the smallest advantage over other individuals.
