Stargate SG-1
is based on the 1994 movie, "Stargate". Showtime aired the
first five seasons of Stargate SG-1. The first episode was
broadcast on July 27, 1997. The show moved to the SciFi
Channel after season five. Now in it's tenth season on
the SciFi Channel, Stargate SG-1 is holds the top spot
as the longest running sci-fi series on American television.
"The X-Files" is second with nine seasons.
Stargate Plot:
Stargate SG-1 follows the adventures of a team of four
explorers, one team among fifteen, made up of soldiers and
scientists as they travel through a Stargate, an ancient
portal to other planets. They use the stargate to explore
new worlds, forge ties with friendly civilizations and
protect Earth from hostile forces.

stars include: Richard Dean Anderson as Gen. Jonathan "Jack"
O'Neill (1997-2005, Michael Shanks as Dr. Daniel Jackson
(1997-2002, 2003-), Amanda Tapping as Samantha Carter,
Christopher Judge as Teal'c.
