Look everybody! It's Popeye the Sailor Man!

Popeye was created by Elzie Crisler Segar. Popeye made his first appearance on January 17, 1929 as a minor character in the newspaper comic strip Thimble Theater, which featured Olive Oil, her brother Castor Oil, and her boyfriend Ham Gravy. Popeye became so popular that the comic strip was eventually renamed after him. Thimble Theater was adapted into an animated cartoon in 1933, and Popeye made his film debut in 1933, in Popeye the Sailor Man. Popeye became a huge sensation, and to this day, his cartoons provide great entertainment for children and adults alike.
