The Sci-Fi series Firefly aired on Fox from 2002-2003. The show was created by Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel. The series only lasted one season, but has now been made into a feature-length film.

Plot Summary for Firefly: Set 500 years in the future after a universal civil war, Captain Malcolm 'Mal' Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) is a renegade former interstellar officer, now turned smuggler/rogue, and commander of Serenity, a small spacecraft with a loyal hand-picked crew including: first mate Zoe Warren (Gina Torres); pilot Hoban 'Wash' Washburn (Alan Tudyk); gung-ho grunt Jayne Cobb (Adam Baldwin); engineer Kaylee Frye (Jewel Staite); rogue scientist Simon Tam (Sean Maher) and his psychic sister River (Summer Glau), where they travel the far reaches of space in search of food, money, and anything to live off on.
