There were several top ten versions of the Davy Crockett theme song back in the 50's and Fess Parker Walt Disney's Davy Crockett himself sang one.

Being a great Fan of Fess Parker, I offen watch my Video of Davy Crockett and the River Pirates, where Davy not only has River Pirates to deal with but also the River King - Mike Fint, which is about to be released for the first time over here in the U.K. on DVD. If you have never seen this Walt Disney Fun movie then you will be in for treat.

Better still why not buy and obtain the 6 Seasons Box-Sets of Fess Parker in Daniel Boon as the Post production in the restoring of the colour Seasons 2 - 6 is fantastic.

Footnote:
Before I forget it Fess Parker also sings the title track to Daniel Boone.
And further still there is a LP being re-released onto CD containing and covering Songs and Tails about many other Pioneers like Crockett and Boone that has previously been recorded by Fess Parker. Got my eyes out for a Copy of this CD.

I've got the two Davy Crockett movies too. I always wonder why they stopped with just two. Why not a continuing series?

Also you might be interested in this interview with Fess Parker he did a few years back from youtube. I would embed it here, but they took out the embed code. Here's the link to the video

Is that cd you are talking about in this list?

Yes Tim,
Great American Heroes is the CD I was referring to as taken from the same LP of that title along with the very same cover picture, so I am now just trotting off to Amazon to Order myself a copy..

Incidently, I watched Fess Parker in an early episode from the 1954 TV Series: Legends of the Old West - Stories of the Century, the other night where Fess pops-up playing the part of Grat Dalton in the Dalton Gang episode on Disc 4 of this series of  Stories taken from Newspaper stories of the early West.
This series won an Emmy award for the best Western Series of 1954, and starred: Jim Davis as Railroad Detective Matt Clark.

A full action format filmed in B/W, of 42 Stories in a 4 DVD Box-Set of around 25 Minutes duration, and very watchable too.
