Munster season two dvd release has 3 documentaries that fellow Munster fan Mike Peters was able to pull out some cool Munsters trivia from.
AL lewis. According to Butch, he was born in 1923, not 1910, as widely believed. Butch says he has lied about his age for years, so who knows how old he really is.
In 1981, when they were going to try to renew interest with the movie Munsters Revenge, Fred Gwynne didnt want to do it, his wife suggested he name an astronomical figure, one that Universal would not possibly pay, but the ploy failed. They paid it.
Lewis and Gwynne became lifelong friends during their time together on Car 54 where are you.
Both of them came up with the idea and design for their dragon pet, Spot.
Gwynne lost a lot of weight the 2 years he played Herman. The padded outfit was so hot, he sweated constantly. He drank gallons of lemonade on the set just to keep cool.
Neither Gwynne and Lewis liked the idea of Universal hiring movie screen siren Yvonne DeCarlo as Lily, but quickly changed their minds when they saw her act as Lily.
Al lewis once got involved with the restauraunt business. The name of his place was Grandpa's. His trademark design was drawn by Gwynne, an accomplished artist.
Lewis ran for senator of New York, getting 1% of the votes. Using grandpa's image, it was called the Green Party.
Gwynne was an author of several children's books.
