Looks like this will be the last season for Stargate SG-1 on the Sci-Fi Channel, but according to TV Guide, a spokesman from MGM, the studio behind the Stargate franchise, says MGM is eager to make TV-movies based on the show. A feature film may also be in the future. There's even talk of another spin-off series.

The series finale of Stargate SG-1 airs this Friday (June 22, 2007) at 8 pm. But, there will be Stargate SG-1 movies released on DVD starting this fall.

"The Ark of Truth," due on DVD this fall, will focus on the Ori's threat to Earth and a device that may deprogram its soldiers. Next spring another DVD will be released. "Continuum" will feature an alternate-timeline story in which O'Neill, Carter and Mitchell find themselves in the 1939 Arctic battling Nazis - and an old alien enemy - over the newly discovered Gate.

Another spinoff of the show, titled Stargate Universe, is also in development stages possibly for Sci Fi next spring.
