The show features Frances "Frankie" Heck (née Spence, Patricia Heaton), a middle-class, Midwestern woman married to Mike Heck (Neil Flynn) who resides in the small fictional town of Orson, Indiana. They are the parents of three children, Axl, Sue, and Brick. The show was picked up for a full season of 22 episodes after airing just two episodes. On January 10, 2011, the series was renewed for a third season by ABC. It premiered with a 1-hour episode on September 21, 2011. |
