| Description: |
If "McCloud" was a TV variation of Clint Eastwood's "Coogan's Bluff", "Hunter" (1984-1991) was certainly inspired by Eastwood's "Dirty Harry" films...ex-Pro Football star Fred Dryer played Police Sgt. Rick Hunter, a guy who lived by his own code, didn't believe in 'warning shots', and (initially) had underworld family ties; he was partnered with Sgt. Dee Dee McCall (the VERY hot Stepfanie Kramer), who proved to be his equal in law enforcement skills (and with better people skills).
After nearly being cancelled in it's first season (nobody could air opposite "Dallas" in it's prime), the show was moved, and became a hit, for several seasons...unfortunately, however, all shows have a limited 'shelf life'; Kramer eventually left the series, Hunter was 'sanitized', and the series became preachy and dull...
But in it's prime, it was action-packed and quite funny, and had a lot of fans! |
