| Description: |
"Hart to Hart" (1979-1984)...Creator Sidney Sheldon and producer Aaron Spelling hoped to capture the sophistication that William Powell and Myrna Loy brought to the old "Thin Man" movies, updated with Robert Wagner and Stephanie Powers (with a lovable 'Asta'-type pooch named 'Freeway', and comic relief from movie legend Lionel Stander). They didn't succeed (actually, "Moonlighting" came closest to capturing the wit and style of the "Thin Man"), but Wagner and Powers were so likable, Spelling had another hit, anyway!
There was a running gag about "Hart to Hart" (that applied equally well to "Murder, She Wrote")...how many friends could they have left, since one of them seemed to get murdered every week! (If I were a friend, I'd NEVER invite them over!) |
