A 1975 Emmy award-winning children's special about sportsmanship
and trying one's best, You're a Good Sport, Charlie Brown
showcases Charlie Brown's introduction to the sport of Motocross and
his surprising success in the sport. Charlie Brown and the gang have
always been sports enthusiasts, but generally the baseball field is
their field of choice. When Peppermint Patty invites "Chuck" to
participate in a Motocross race for charity, Charlie Brown and Linus,
as well as the mysterious Masked Marvel (Snoopy), become intrigued
with dirt biking and enter the race. Slow and steady perseverance is
the key to success for Charlie Brown, who at last finds a sport in
which he can excel. This remastered edition looks and sounds great
and also includes the 1979 television special You're the
Greatest, Charlie Brown in which Charlie Brown's commitment to
the gang and willingness to try something new shines when he enters
the decathlon event at the Junior Olympics. The 11-minute bonus
featurette "Dust Yourself Off and Pick Yourself Up, Charlie Brown"
features Charles Schulz's son Craig describing his love of Motocross
racing and recounting how a few days spent in the stands inspired
his father to write about the sport in his weekly cartoon strip.
This lesser-known Charlie Brown special is definitely a
winner worth adding to your Peanuts collection. (Ages 2 and
older) --Tami Horiuchi
