Years ago I used to watch Dragon Ball Z. After I got older and, well, grew up... I kinda just stopped watching it because I was busy and so on. I saw this for sale and I immediately found myself remembering all my favorite episodes! I ordered this and can say I've watched all 6 discs at least 3 times each. Great quality, original openings and endings, all the blood and violence a young boy could ever dream for in an anime... as long as your parents don't find out. I give this a "6 out-of 5" stars hands down!!! Buy it!!! You WILL NOT be sorry.

im a fan of dbz but this set is just a realease of the orange boxsets if you have seasons 1-4 get the other oranger boxsets but if your just starting to get into dbz series get this set its dollars cheaper than he orange versions that are out there and more episodes but the only differnce is this set is in full screen onrange sets are in widescreen if your a person who looks at every little detail in movie or tv show when your watching them stating the picture is not bright enough so im swichting to bluray or just one of those poeple who has to buy every new thing that gets released bluray, hddvd, like to spend 10. or 20 on bluray dvds than nomral dvds because the screen is brighter comparid to normal dvds and later you complain you want a refund becasue hddvd lost format war so you demand refund because of it then this set is for you can see every.... little detail for anaylist like your who looks for detail instead of enjoying the show for what is meant to be.
if you have the orange boxsets seasons 1-6 i recomend getting them ther 10.00 more han these sets but you will have the complete series.
this set does not contain any english music that you heard on cartoon network if it did i buy this set but it doesnt contain it i like the japanese intros & endings on some series but the dbz series music endings just put me to sleep if your dbz fan who is just getting started i recomend buying this volume 1 & 2 then start buying the orange box sets if you cant wait to see what happens next after volume 2, but if you want to save some money & just getting started in dbz then i recomend holding out for the other volumes to get released 3,4,5
i allready have all seasons of dbz orange box sets so i wont be buying any more i agree this sest does save on space comaperd to te orange versions but if i knew this was going to be released i would have waited to save space for my anime collection but im no anyalist when watching movies or tv shows i buy movies & tv shows i enjoy them not to anyalize every little detail that there is so i wont be buy this set.

This is obviously a good one to buy IF you haven't bought any other season and IF the price goes down.
-The thing I love the MOST about DB/Z/GT is that it is like a Christian show!!
Goku is the one who always leads everyone the correct way, He is the savior of the world! (Symbolic to God leading us the right way & being our Savior!)
Goku trains & helps his friends to become good fighters (Symbolic to God "training" us in His Word)
Goku trusts in his friends knowing they will do the right thing. (Symbolic to God trusting that His true followers will obey Him & go His way)
Goku always shows love & mercy even to his enemies & evil people. (Symbolic to God showing all us people, whom have broken His Perfect Law -The Ten Commandments- and yet He still gives us Mercy to flee from sin & follow Him)
Goku believes anyone can change their life from bad, to good. (Symbolic to fleeing from our sins & following the Will of God)
Goku was like a father, always protecting people from evil (Symbolic to how God protects us from evil & when the storms comes, He's still with us)
Everytime it seems hopeless & like evil will prevail & there is no way out, Goku is always there to help! (Symbolic to no matter how strong the temptation or urge is, God always provides a way out for us because He is with us)
When the Saiyans or other fighters feel like there is no hope, they go into a new level of strength (Symbolic to when you are weakest you are strongest)
Like with us when we feel we can't resist the temptation or do the Will of God, we still press on and reach a new level or strength.....haha, like a Spiritual Super Saiyan, being much stronger into & with God then we were before.
When the fighters are fighting & they feel there is no hope, someone else usually comes to the aid (Symbolic to God will never leave us & He always provides help)
DBZ is not only a great show but I look at it through a Christian sense, look at it as a Christian sense, it's symbolic, it'll make it 10x better! I know it did for me!

I just recieved My Copy of the Dragon Box Set Season 1. I was very impressed by it. Actually am very dissapointed with all the 1 star reviews but to each thier own. I watch Anime with both subtitles and english dubbing so I like both. Will always just be a atter of opinion what you like. anyways Now for the actual review.
Picture Quality:
The Picture Quality is very impressive considering how long ago the anime was actually done. I own all the Yellow "brick" box sets as well that were done in widescreen as well. I have got to say DBZ should be presented in Full screen at all times. In the Yellow "Brick" season sets there were many times in the picture where you would see random small white spots on the screen, in the Dragon Box set I haven't seen one of those yet. I will admit the previous season sets had a certain cinematic feel to it, but overall the quality of picture on this set is better. Color is intact and beautiful.
Sound Quality:
Sound Quality is very good on the DVD set. Not much to compare to though because the previous sets always had wonderful sound quality on the English dub versions as that was thier primary audio track. Lack of English Dub music score by either Funimation or Ocean group(Pioneer) bothers me not. I still like the Japanese Background Music of DBZ.
Price:
Priceless, a Collection for DBZ fans who had seen it before Cartoon networks extremely censored version. Granted I have no problem with the English dub version of DBZ as it is still very entertaining, this set has a huge appeal to me anyway. I understand that dubs are catered to the general audience in thier country and that is fine, that's the most logical thing they can do. I really like how the subtitles in the dragon Box have more adult dialogue and how even reading it what the characters say makes sense. Sometimes in the english dub it seemed like they were saying random things.
A wonderful set I say, only thing that bothers me is that now I have to collect all these too, but oh well that's the way it is and can't complain cause I love the set :) Thanks for reading my review and hope this helps people on future purchases of this.

Hello Everyone! I have never ever seen the Uncut version of Dragonball Z and can't thank funimation enough! This will be my first time watching DBZ in Uncut fashion, so I will also get to see the colors exactly the way they were meant to be shown! I have purchased all of the DBZ DVD singles that were supposedly uncut, but come to find out that they edited out a lot of scenes that I never got to see. Anyways, its nice to finally get to own the DVD sets as they were intended for the hard core fans. I also really like it that they did not re-arrange the colors of the Dragonbox even though many speculate that they did a little bit.
The most important thing that I liked about the Dragonbox volume one DVD set was that it was in a Standard screen version and you can choose from the Japanese Language to English dub. This makes it really nice because I watch all my shows in English, but if I ever get the time to learn Japanese, then I will defiantly watch it in Japanese.
Overall, this product gets a 5/5 from me and I hope that many people don't read all of the bad reviews on this product because some of them aren't for the general public like myself who has never ever seen DBZ on TV, but owns and has watched all of Funi's DVD's. Oh, and getting the DVD set is great for Collectors because it comes with a collectible book as well :)
