This Game rocks. It is along the lines of God of War. Dont get me wrong, nothing can really beat GOW as of yet. But this game is fun. It took me about 15 hours of game play to beat it on hard. I am not in no way a hard corps gamer but I am average. Game has a great fun factor due to the way you fight the goons. I find trying to find all of the hidden objects within the game just as fun. The extra content is a great add on as well. If I had to purchase the game over however I would buy the regular game. The plastic bat a rang is not really worth the money. Plus the extra add on with it is not really worth it either. There is already 3 free add ons available on the PS3 network at the time of me writing this.
This game is worth buying. Hope this helps anyone looking at this. (It is open for a Sequel)

The collector's edition isn't an option for fans of The Batman...it's an absolute MUST. Very fun game to play. This just isn't the best Batman game ever, it's easily the best game of the year, so far. The voice acting is magnificent, the graphics are stunning, and the story is riveting. So much so, you'd forget that you are in the comfort of your own quarters, but rather in the highly volatile environment of Arkham Asylum.
Great game as I highly recommend it to anyone!

The graphics and storyline are seamless and phenomenal. I found it hard to put the controller down. From beginning to end this game is action packed. I love the challenge this game brings and the escalating difficulty. The creators definitely keep if from feeling repetitive. There are three levels of difficulty Easy, Normal, and Hard. If you want to cruise through Easy is great. Normal adds some excitement to the gameplay. Hard is exactly that, hard, but not impossible to manage. This game is lots of fun and has replay value. Whether completing in-game challenges or playing Challenge Mode, this game is a winner in my book.
This game has fighting, gadgets, detective work, sneaking, secret challenges, and you'll travel around all of Arkham Asylum.

This game is quite entertaining. I actually felt more like Batman than I have with any other Batman-related video game...and I had fun doing it. As far as the collector's edition goes, the only cool thing, I feel, is a psychiatric journal of some of the inmates psych reviews done by an in-game character. It's a very nice insight into the story, atmosphere, and minds of some of the characters in the Batman universe. The collector's edition is a bit overpriced for a plastic Batarang, but the game is well worth the money!

Batman: Arkham Asylum has set a new benchmark for comic-based games. It really is a AAA title that deserves all the praise it's been getting. I won't go into details of all the different bits of gameplay and story that make this such a wonderful game as you can read about those at countless other outlets.
What I will do is tell you that you're better off just buying the regular version of this game. The Collector's Edition I would consider slightly underwhelming with the price tag it has. The Batarang is made of plastic with lots of "intentional" scratches on its surface to give it a "used" feel, but that just makes it look cheap like some kids toy from the 90s. Not to mention you cannot remove it from the stand. By far the biggest let-down of the package.
The Blu-Ray Disc with all the extra behind-the-scenes videos and trailers is nice, but they've included about half of them on the game disc itself anyway, so you don't feel like you've gotten too much in the way of exclusive content. That leaves us with the leatherbound journal of Dr. Young, the exclusive download content and the box itself.
The journal is fairly nice, the leather wrapping isn't attached to the book so it loses some of it's authenticity as a journal once this comes off. Otherwise the info in the book is interesting, well laid-out with artwork and a design theme consistent with the rest of the game and package.
With the PS3 version, you get a bonus of having the Joker's content as a free download. Please note that this extends to the normal version of the game as well. What doesn't however is the exclusive collector's edition combat challenge map, Crime Alley. It's a fun and engaging challenge map, but with so many available in the game itself as well as free downloads that have already been released and more on the way, the value level of this is very debatable.
Last but not least, the case. Well made, sturdy with some sort of magnetic clasp. It's a nice box...looks real nice sitting in the corner of the room catching dust. As much as I like it, it just doesn't seem like a practical thing to just have lying around.
So overall I'd say, unless you're the hugest Batman fan out there and don't mind spending the extra, I'd avoid this package and just go for the normal edition. You'll still get the best of what this game has to offer and none of the feelings of regret for buying a 14" plastic toy batarang.
