Let's make it simple:
Buy a normal edition Batman Arkham Asylum and leave this one out.
The Collector's Edition is almost the worst lie from Eidos Interactive to all collectors in the world; never imagined Eidos to go that low to produce a big flashy box with a bat rang that made from a worst cheap kind of plastic mold with no detail at all (JUST Garbage). Don't expect much from the leather bound journal as it is also a disappointing.
I still don't know how it bypassed me (Pre Order sometimes is your worst enemy), and the people who made this collector edition are worth to be sued.

This game offers more than I ever expected. Hopefully there's more to come. Definitely a great buy! I'm a huge Batman fan and this game gives you everything it should to fulfill the expectations of being Batman. If you are interested, Buy It! You will not be disappointed. Fun for everyone.

I've been collecting Batman comics for almost 20 years, and I've been a hardcore gamer for almost 30 years, and this game is now in my top 5 games of all time! This is THE comic book Batman. This is the Batman that causes hardened criminals to wet their pants. This is the Batman who can move through a room full of armed guards without them ever knowing he was there. And best of all, this is the Batman who can dive into a room packed with 20 thugs and completely destroy them without taking so much as a scratch.
The combat is excellent in this game! The controls couldn't be simpler, and the combo/counter system makes the combat look amazing. The developers did a superb job animating Batman, allowing him to gracefully flow from one attack to the next, taking out thugs as quickly and efficiently as possible, just like in the comics.
The graphics, audio and overall production values in this game are some of the best I've ever seen. The Batman and Joker are voiced by the actors who played them in the old cartoon (yeah, Mark Hamill!!!), making the whole story much more immersive and believable. The story itself isn't the deepest in the world, but it serves it's purpose (allowing you to kick ass as Batman) well and stays extremely faithful to the source material.
The Batarang that comes with the Collector's Edition looks like crap when viewed close-up, but sitting on a shelf across the room, it looks really cool. I have it proudly displayed in my living room.
The bottom line: I can't recommend this game enough!! Best Batman game ever, by far!!! Buy it right now!!!! RIGHT NOW!!!!!! WHY ARE YOU STILL READING THIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Everything was intact and accounted for, it was even shipped in a larger box with a lot of padding. My only wish is that the batarang was not glued, but it didnt matter, i pulled it off without much trouble. Also now i have a bat-shaped box to store whatever i need. You won't be disappointed.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a great game. The game has Batman trapped in Arkham Asylum for one night with Joker and quite a few other villains which I won't put here to keep the story unspoiled. Batman must battle his way through using his superb fighting ability, detective skills, and amazing gadgets to make it through the night. This collectors edition was a must for me being a huge Batman fan.
The Batarang is obviously the biggest sell point for anyone wanting the collectors edition. The Batarang looks amazing and has great detail. It's purposely scratched to have the used look which I love. There are some things that may bother some buyers looking for a real batarang. The batarang is plastic - hard plastic - but still plastic. Also it DOES NOT come off its stand unless you break it off. It's meant for display purposes only.
The C.E. also comes with Doctor Pamela Young's patient journal and includes quite a few villains in it describing them all in detail. The book is faux leather and closes with a tie string which is a nice detail touch. The package also includes a full color game instruction booklet, a download code for the Crime Alley map which needs Xbox Live to download. The package the game is in isn't a regular game case either. It's cardboard and contains the game disc along with a bonus dvd that has your basic making of the game and other videos on it.
Lastly, the Amazon version of the C.E. comes with a little comic book exclusive which is about the same size as a video game booklet. The comic includes events right before Batman takes Joker to the asylum. Even though it's not the size of a regular comic book, it is still a nice little bonus to the whole package.
Overall for Batman fans this C.E. is a pretty great package, but priced at $100.00 it's not exactly a "recession friendly" price for a video game. If you don't get the C.E. definitely get the regular game. The story telling and quality of this Batman game is unlike any other! You won't be disappointed!
