I am an avid gamer. I play games. From time to time ive come across games like AA and thought...hmmm this is going to suck. I can remember playing the demo and thinking, well it has great graphics but the gameplay isnt all that great. It wasnt until my professor brought it up that I thought about giving the game a try. I was blown away. From level one to the end I could not keep my controller down. I was hooked. The game is amazing in every way, gameplay, graphics and most importantly story. It is probably the best batman game ever made, and well worth the rent. I did however afterwards feel kind of mad that it was over and wanted more! Eidos if you see this review, please make another AA!
rent the game.love it.experiance.Have fun.

Let me preface this review by stating the following: I am not a huge Batman fan. Amidst the pantheon of various superheroes, Batman was never at the top of my list when compared to the more flashy characters in either the DC or Marvel universes.
With that being said, I say with all conviction: this game is INCREDIBLE.
Where to begin? First and foremost, the graphics are outstanding. The movement and motions are fluid and there is no choppiness that plagues some games. The story line is extremely intricate and involved, but not so confusing that more novice game players will get frustrated. The game has plenty of guidance built into it and slowly brings more gadgets into the game as it progresses. That adds to the intrigue and mystique and makes the game play much more interesting.
It will take the average user some time to get through the game in its entirety. But there are never really any slow or boring moments. The tapestry of Arkham Asylum and the graphic cinematography are very well done and produce an almost haunted house style to the game, giving it that edge that fits the Batman Dark Knight persona.
I think many users will be especially impressed by the Scarecrow mini-missions that are very fun and almost surreal in their style.
Overall, this is a great game. Easily the best superhero game ever and possibly one of the best XBox games of all time.

There's not much to say that the others haven't
- Combat is fun, satisfying, and addictive
- Stealth is fun and done in a way where it isn't tedious
- Graphics are just amazing, truly a next gen game
- The little bonus side missions are actually fun and make the game better as opposed to other games where just they're just kinda gay and worthless
- Story is great, hidden interviews and back stories make the game all the more immersive
- design, ESPECIALLY THE SCARECROW PART was just spectacular
Couple of notes
- My only complaint, other than I wish it was longer, is that I have an older console, and do not have Xbox live so I don't get the updates. My dash was updated with this game and that's all fine and good. But the game ran kinda buggy, it would crash during some of the loading and cut scenes, this happened rarely but often enough to make me feel anxious while playing.
- People complain about the detective mode hampering the otherwise stellar graphics, I personally think the mode looks brilliant, I love seeing the skeleton outlines, I mean that just looks so cool, and you can switch views seamlessly, I think it made the gamer better and didn't hinder it at all.

I like this game a lot. Cool story line and challenging. Challenge mode keeps the game interesting even after the main story has been completed. And who doesn't want to beat the Joker?

This game has all the bells and whistles.
Only disadvantage is that it's single player. As many a good game is only single player mode, it creates more isolation for the hardcore videogamer.
This is the only disadvantage to good games. They create isolation and social ineptness. Play responsibly.
