Before I got this game I checked out the reviews from various websites and the one that had me sold was "This is not a Batman game, this is a Batman Simulator"
I am about half way through the game and I couldn't Agree more with that review.
Pros:
- Voice actors are the best for Bats and Joker: Conroy and Hamill, respectively
- Controls feel pretty natural after just a couple of minutes(I mostly use an xbox 360 controller)
- Graphics are ridiculously realistic (for a game). You can zoom in on characters and see the threads of their outfits
- Story is very Batman-like and keeps you interested.
- Reading, seeing and hearing about different Batman Universe Characters make me feel like I am creating my own comic book/movie
- Fighting the henchmen is so fun, it feels like there are infinite combos I can do to take down a group of 10 men.
- Side stories/missions: There are various riddles for each section of the Island as well as little artifacts left by Arkham himself as well as interview tapes between the inmates and therapists.
Cons:
- At certain points it feels like I am playing Gears of War
- Certain Boss fights are ridiculously easy
- I can play for hours at a time and I still don't move and fight like Batman.

This is the best batman game I ever played. It's so good that I completed the game and then played it again from the beginning and finished it for the second time and played the challenge mode and finished it twice.
That's how much this game ROCKS!!!
Pros: the story is awesome, the graphics is fantastic, has all the eye candy I love. Pixel shaders everywhere so for those who are pixel shaders hungry, this game is full of it in addition to details. It's so detailed that you can see the details of his face and suit.
Anyway everything ROCKS!!! about this game.
Cons: None
PS: Please buy the game. You won't regret it. It's a must have game for the batman fans and for gamers in general.

After seeing the movie industry time and time again come up with the worst batman's in history (I'm still debating if Val Kilmer or George Clooney take the price) and reading lots and lots of great comics and watching great animated series, finally a company comes along and rewards us fans with a marvelous dark knight game that truly puts you in Wayne's mind as the Batman. No, this is not the BAM, WHAM, KA-POW batman you saw David West in and it's not the weird new batman from Batman the Brave and the Bold cartoon and that is such a relief !!
This is the TRUE Batman, the one Bob Kane had in his mind even in the late 30's, the one that has inspired great writings from comic book authors such as Jeph Loeb (The Long Halloween), Frank Miller (Year One) and Grant Morrison (Arkham Asylum). Taking most of the game heavily from the Arkham Asylum comic book, this game truly compels the player in a gritty, Gothic, depressing place that is the former house of the Arkham family. Some may think the mansion may be a bit small to create a game in seeing games as Fallout 3, GTA, or the Total War series yet the Arkham Mansion is now so much more than just a house and has been cleverly designed in the game with the help of Waynetech Industries. The single player campaign is a great story worthy of a comic book of it's own and let's not forget the greatest Joker since I read Alan Moore's The Killing Joke (and yes I'm including Heath Ledger here, he's just too darn psycho to be the ultimate joker, although I admit he stole the leading role in the movie), Mark Hamill is and will always be the greatest joker voice I've heard and of course Kevin Conroy does a marvelous job as the Batman. But it's the little things that this game excels at, whether is the Joker screaming madly while dancing before signaling Harley to lock Arkham, or Batman's knuckle crunching sounds when he breaks a goon's arm in two this game gives the player so much more than a mere punch and kick experience. Whether you're the action packed super hero that loves to beat everyone to a pulp or the stealthy guy that likes a kill without been seen you'll find your need in this game.
The only bad parts that I may think of are the installation, it took me 4 tries to get the Games for Windows Live installed and even though I couldn't care less about online leaderboards I have to create an account otherwise I can't save my progress, that's just absurd but it's not the developers fault.
The solo campaign is rather small compared to games nowadays even compared to some old ones with almost the same style like the Hitman series, yet the quality of the game story and the graphics makes this shortcomings well worth the hassle. But for this two shortcomings I had to deduct those two stars otherwise the game will be rated as flawless and nothing is flawless.
Now if you really think the game lacks depth because you finished the campaign too soon, well try the Riddler challenges and you'll soon find yourself playing well over 50 hours just trying to figure out some of the puzzles. The trophies are really easy to find and most of them only require the adequate equipment in your arsenal, but the character bios and the arkham chronicles really require you to think and even delve into some of the comics to solve them and see what makes the batman villains tick. The question mark puzzles are more a matter of proper camera placing but are as engaging as the character ones nonetheless.
Overall I do think this has become a classic of the gaming industry and a revolution on the way FPS games should be in the future. As far as the Batman Universe goes, it has been the first time I felt truly connected to Batman as a character, I won't spoil the story but to truly understand Bruce Wayne and why he created his alter ego the Scarecrow parts are really amazing.

Ill keep this review brief. This is a pretty good game. 50bucks good? not quite. The graphics are really crisp and the animations look good. I like how they didnt make the joker a copy of heath ledger and instead made him more freakish looking. Main thing that keeps it from being awesome for me is that it is a straight forward, story driven, button masher game. If that is your cup of tea then you will love it. If not so much then wait for it to drop in price.

Ok, Ok... Now, psychology dictates that humans are more likely to complain about something than they are to compliment it... In this case... THERE IS NOTHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT!!
I see people whining about games for windows live and all that... Make an account, and when you play the game, all you have to do is click sign on, and BAM! You're at Arkham Asylum! And even when a game gets old enough, the people at Games For Windows Live usually offer a final patch that allows personal computer saving... Or there are many walk arounds, like in Fallout where all you do is move your saves and DLC to a different folder.
The graphics are beautiful on my 24 inch LCD and my 9800gtx+ Nvidia card...
As an experienced computer and console gamer, there is a fine balance with games... And that is, that the better LOOKING a game is then the shorter and less developed it is... Batman Arkham Asylum is not the case... This game goes on forever!
The voice acting is done with many of the same voices from the popular Batman: The Animated Series and it is even darker than the series.
The fighting is very fluid and amazing to see, the use of the xbox controller is WONDERFUL because I cannot describe how pi$$ed off I was in the olden days of having to constantly reprogram a new controller for every game. So if you are going to get this game for PC MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN Xbox CONTROLLER.
It is just down right beautiful. I literally don't have words to describe how awesomely a$$ kicking this game is... It's like being in Batman's boots and being in the middle of a breathtaking cinematic experience, and having control over who gets smacked around by the Dark Knight next!
It takes something pretty dang good to stun me like this, I have never played or seen a game like this before... ANd all I can ask is:
WHEN IS THE NEXT Eidos/Rocksteady BATMAN game coming out!?!?! Because like the Christian Bale batman movies, they left is WIDE OPEN for a part 2!
