Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fugitive,David Janssen
When the Fugitive was on television I watched every week the shows.I just love David Janssen and the stories.I have purchased season one,VOL. 1 and season one,Vol.2 D of the Fugitive.WHAT I DO NOT LIKE IS HAVING TO BUY A DVD'S THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE WHOLE SEASON ON IT.I DOUBT IF I WILL CONTINUE BUYING THIS SERIES AS LONG AS THEY DO NOT RELEASE THE WHOLE SEASON. ONE OF THE MANY REASONS WE LIKED THE ROCKFORD FILES SERIES IS THE DVD'S ARE FOR THE WHOLE SEASON.IT IS TOO BAD THE GREEDY MOVIE STUDIOS CONTINUE TO RELEASE THEIR TV SHOWS AS season one, Volumn 1 ,season one, volumn 2.THE PRICES ARE TOO HIGH FOR JUST ONE HALF OF A SEASON ON DVD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Just Leave the Poor Guy Alone
Why can't they leave the poor guy alone? Everyone knows the story about the Fugitive. Dr. Richard Kimble is a pediatrician in Indiana. He and his wife get into an argument and Dr. Kimble leaves the house. When he returns, he sees a one-armed man running from his house. His wife is dead and he is sentenced to death for the murder. Dr. Kimble escapes and is now on the run and is being relentlessly chased by LT. Philip Gerard.

The first season ran from 1963 to 1964. It finished number 28 in the TV ratings. David Janssen was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Continued Performance by an Actor in a Series (Lead).

This show is incredibly frustrating because we all know Dr. Kimble is innocent and he just can't seem to live in peace without being hounded by LT Gerard or being sold-out by some vindictive malcontent. You really want this guy to enjoy a normal life but he constantly has to look over his shoulder and escape by the skin of his teeth before getting caught. His only hope of escaping this nightmare is to find the one-armed man who killed his wife. It should be noted that you don't actually get to see the details about his wife's murder until episode 14: Girl from Little Egypt. In every episode Dr. Kimble is befriended by someone who is finally convinced of his innocence and helps him escape. This turns out to be a true dilemma for the people he meets because they are aware that he is wanted and know that assisting a convicted murder escape is not only against the law, but it is immoral. After much soul-searching someone always decides to help him. In each episode, the tension continues to build as his true identify is discovered and law enforcement is closing in. Even though you know he will always get away because his fugitive status is the basis for the show, you are still kept in suspense and are very anxious as you watch the closing minutes of the show.

Another appealing aspect of the show is the way Dr. Kimble touches the lives of the people he encounters. His compassion and willingness to help others in trouble is a very noble attribute.

The episodes in the first series are of the highest value. The acting is superb and the production of the show is tops for its time. The strangest thing about the development of the DVD set is the main menu. The design of it is really bizarre and hard to navigate. I am often not sure which episode I have selected. If you don't mind watching a good guy treated like dirt and living life on the run one day at a time, then you'll really like this show. I give it a 5 star rating.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Solid Entertainment That Does Not Date
By the second half of arguably this classic series' finest season, The Fugitive had hit its stride. The episodes are consistently well written, with exceptional performances from David Jansen, Barry Morse, and a host of talented character actors. My one-star subtraction reflects the DVD producers' decision to market these reissues at a rather high price. Beautifully restored, this is a 60s series that has aged like fine wine, having lost none of its power and delight.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - brilliant
i have always been a huge fan of the fugitive having taped the whole series off the t.v and the tapes are pretty worn now. so i am delighted to be able to get the series on dvd, the only downside is the fact that i have to wait because its only being released half a season at a time. but i dont care i can watch a crystal clear picture and fawn over david janssen who is very good at playing the tormented hero. if you like any of the t.v series from the 50's or 60's you will like this series, most of it is in b/w its still good and i like it in b/w. go on go out and buy it, your in for a treat if you do.
