Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel Video Games

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great game, but wii wheel needs work.
Mario Kart wii has its fair share of pros and cons:

pros:
Compatibility with four control schemes makes sure everybody has a remote to match their style!
Nice cast of characters.
The drive as your mii feature is not lacking, as in other mii-integrated games.
Nice courses.
Graphics are good considering its the wii.
fun for kids and adults. Simple rules make this a "pick up and go" type of game.
Online is a great feature, alowing you to play with one, or two players over the internet

cons:
some characters seem almost inpossible to unlock, making you do perfect laps, and endless time trials.
Internet can get laggy if you dont have a good connection.
The wii wheel can not function properly if not held in an upright position, and can be too sensitive, or not sensitive at all, depending on your distance from the sensor bar.
four-player can make the screen a little crowded, especially if you have a small tv.

But dont take my word for it! I reccomend renting this or trying at a friend's to make sure that you will enjoy it. Thanks for reading!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Lots of fun for kids and adults
Although this title is hard to find it was so worth the effort to get it. Both my husband and I love playing it (even sometimes late after the kids go to bed) and my 9 yr old and 3.5 yr old boys play it all the time. They love using the wheels (we are happy we bought the extra wheel for the 2nd player) and playing all of the different courses. Fun game for all.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Wii would like to race.
As far as party games go, Mario Kart has always been a blast. From a fierce rivalry with my nine-year-old sister in Mario Kart 64 to 3 am Double Dash at rowdy house parties, Mario Kart has always been to me the ultimate in casual, multiplayer gaming. As such, it's perfectly suited to Nintendo's Wii. So whether you're looking for wholesome family time or a fun addition to your kegger, Mario Kart Wii delivers in full.

Perhaps the biggest new addition is the Wii Wheel. For veteran players, it's admittedly a bit tricky to get used to. If you can work through the modest learning curve, it's well worth it. And while it's hard to justify a $10 plastic casing, you might consider getting an extra wheel if you can find one cheap. There's something to be said for an even playing field with respect to control methods, and it helps if both players look equally ridiculous attempting tricks by shaking. Also, it's responsive and accurate enough to handle the games demands, and with some practice feels completely natural. Be prepared to lose a few early races, but to enjoy the game that much more as you progress.

Those early races, however, might be the games biggest flaw. 50cc is too slow to be very exciting, and the Mushroom cup's tracks are a bit too dull to be very compelling. This combined with the wheel's learning curve, and I was a little let down by the initial experience. The later courses, however, are a ton of fun, and MKW's special cup is a real winner. It adds up to enough variety to satisfy all Mario Kart fans, with straightforward circuits for the kids and kickass editions of Bowser's Castle and Rainbow Road for the more competitive.

Mario Kart Wii also features a slew of retro tracks from every previous game in the series. They all look great on Wii, especially the old-school Mode 7 ones from SNES and GBA. The transition to a 3d environment gives these courses a very cool retro look, and devotees of the series will love em. Mario Kart 64 tracks are quite a bit more polished now, and while the gamecube tracks look about the same, it's good to see it run in widescreen. All in all, a very fun addition for fans.

From a technical standpoint, the game is hit and miss. The character models are really, truly, inexcusably poor. They're really not the focus though, as the environments take center stage and all look quite pretty. Also, Dolby Pro Logic proves it still has some life to it and definitely strengthens the experience with surround. The Wii remote's speaker adds quite a bit as well; another reason to go with the wheel.

The unlockables are the most fun aspect of one-player, and there are a lot to be found. Many can be found in natural progression through the game, but some might require google. I'll just say that between characters and vehicles, there's incentive here for the committed player to master literally every course.

Mario Kart really shines in multiplayer. The battle mode isn't the expected classic, but it's fun nonetheless. The options for local racing initially seem limited, but if you catch the small rules button in the setup, you can tailor your race to whatever classic Mario Kart mode you prefer. Online is truly excellent: a ranking system lets the world's hard-core players go at it, and two new tournaments a month keep the game fresh.

All-in-all, this is really nothing short of a must-have game. If you bought your Wii for casual fun, you need this game. If you bought your Wii as a Nintendo fan, you need this game. In short, pick it up if you get the chance, it's guaranteed to be fun for nearly everybody.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great Game
This is an great game. You get to choose from 16 diffrent courses, and you can unlock 16 more. Most of them are pretty easy, but a few are hard. In battle, you try to hit people with weapons. I don't like battle very much. In racing and battle, you get to choose a character and a car, and you can unlock some of those, too. Using the wheel is easy after a few days. After a few months you will get kind of bored with th same old race courses, but all games do that.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Purchased Mario Kart for Wii
Very happy with our recent purchase of the game. My kids love it. The order was painless and it was shipped and received within a week of placing the order.
