My son got this for his 4th birthday. Batman's wings and helicopter come off if you want to use Batman as a stand alone figure. His right hand has a magnet in it that touches against a plate in the helicopter/wing pack and activates the propeller and creates a red light on Batman's chest plate. The figure does have an on/off switch behind his shoulder.
The figure seems sturdy and easy for preschool aged kids to manipulate. This is a great toy for the money (we found it for well under $10 through an Amazon vendor)

This line of toys rocks in most ways except:
1) Too hard to find variety (non-batman/superman characters are hard to come by)
2) Not all stores stock them. Variable results at many brick-n-morters. Amazon has a bunch, but not all and some are from 3rd party sellers who have inflated the price of harder to find characters.
3) Some of the new toys in this line are not the same size. Regardless, my kid is having a blast and so would any other boy in the age-group.
If you are going to get the batman from this set- this is the one. It has the delux features- something that adds capability when used with the Batmobile toy. It is also the snazzier black/grey look instead of the blue/grey look some of the other batman toys in this line have.
