In 1982, while this show aired, I was six, turning seven during its run.
While it only lasted 20 episodes and was bumped by the World Series too often, I was glued to the television whenever it was on.
The lead actor was a rare thing in those days. He was a true athlete, not some skinny twerp pretending to be a tough guy. He could act. He appealed to all ages and genders for different reasons: ladies like the pretty-boy aspect, guys liked the tough guy thing, little boys knew he'd always save the kid from trouble. While the actor died of a tragic accident, he left a short, but impressive legacy in his role as Phinneas Bog.
The kid was a touch hammy, but often true to form for child actors of the era. The difference here was the show's writers played to his strengths and it showed. He complemented his on-screen buddy well.
The shows did its best stab at history, made it exciting, and ended each episode with a "if you want to learn more, it's all in books, at your public library."
Quantum Leap never would have happened without this show where the characters fixed things that went wrong with time...

For a short lived TV series - it is great!! To bad it didn't make it on a TV series - would have loved to see it get better ratings! It is a quick run through History with 2 people trying to correct History on different situations!! Quality is excellent!! Only 17 episodes but worth the money!!

I love this series, but only because I watched it when I was a kid. I don't think the kids of today would be interested in it. It's pretty old school.
THE GOOD: The costumes are great, and the filming locations were pretty good too. The basic idea of the series is brilliant, if not paradoxical - and it makes you think.
THE BAD: The acting is fingernails on a chalkboard and there are a lot of blatant blunders in the directing. For example, a guy will get shot and act like he's in pain, and then ten seconds later, he's walking around acting totally normally. This series comes with an extra slice of CHEESE.
The price is right though...

A lot of people here have complained that this very good series was cancelled before it's time becuase of the studio. Just want to remind them that it was cancelled because of the tragic death of its star, Mr. Hexum, on set. As I recall, he was playing around with a prop gun and pretended to shoot himself with it, like Russian roulette. Blanks are still projectiles, and it killed him. I remember being devastated at the time, having indulged in a nice crush on the main character. A horrible waste of a talented individual.
