Ironhide is fun to transform. I think he's not quite as complicated to transform in comparison to others. I would say that it works well for 9 year olds and up. It might have too many nuances to maneuver for a younger child. The automorph feature is sturdy. It looks very stunning in robot mode. And it's sturdy in truck mode. You can't do without the weapons specialist of the autobots!

I love this transformer. The amazing detail on it is killer. A little challenging to transform at the beginning, but it got easier after a few times. My 5 year old can almost transform it, just needs to get over the fear of breaking it. It's not breakable or of week material, if anything it will pop off..but you can put back together easily. But I do agree, should not be intended for small children. I think my son enjoys it b/c I play w/him sometimes.

Transformers: Movie Voyager Ironhide
First, this is my favorite transformer. I had to get that out. Now for the full review. The look is really awesome and very detailed in vehicle and robot mode. The directions for transforming into robot mode are horrible. It doesn't even show you what do do with the back. Otherwise it is pretty easy to figure out. The auto-morph in the feet and lower legs is a nice touch. Durability though, the windshield/ roof (all one piece) keeps popping off. It's easy to put back on, but it is really frustrating. As with the other movie transformers of this type, do not buy it for your young child. It is too complicated for younger children. Otherwise an overall good product.

My boyfriend Rhalfeal is a huge transformers fan. I mean an absolute geek. I purchased this toy as a Christmas present because he had mentioned how much he would LOVE to have it, because it had a resemblance to his truck. Upon opening the toy he immediately ripped it out of the box and began to play with it. yes it is a fun toy, and yes Ironhide is the most handsome of the transformers, BUT he is VERY difficult to transform for the first time. It took my bf about an hour and a half in order to transform it. All the while while I was sitting in awe watching him. I recommend this transformers to any transformer geek and or collector. He looks good on his desk with his large collection.

I got this for my nine yr old and he loves it! I love it for the manual dexterity and brain thinking and plotting that happens while my son is having fun!
