A select audience appeal here! Can't dance to it, can't sing along (all instrumental), and will not be recognized or appreciated by non-fans. But "Who" cares!!! If you follow the current BBC series you will love this collection from various episodes.

I like cinematic-style soundtracks, and my experience has usually been that you get one or two pieces of entertaining music and the rest is so slow it puts you to sleep. Not this one. There are several styles of music contained in this CD, all of them terrific. Murray Gold is a genius. Not since John Williams have I been so impressed by a composer. I received this CD today and have already listened to it in its entirety 3 or 4 times. Give this a try, you won't be dissapointed.

Bravo! Encore!
I bought this soundtrack to have a nice piece of Doctor Who memorabilia, since some things are kind of rough to find here in the States and you have to snap them up while they're available. But I have to say, this is a really beautiful CD! To hear the incidental music independent from the show gave me a new appreciation for the series as a whole and all of the elements it takes to bring our favorite Time Lord's adventures to life (how many of us have been enraptured by a scene and enthralled by the sights AND sounds?), and for Murray Gold as a composer. His compositions are quite remarkable and layered; not to mention thrilling.
"The Face of Boe" and "The Doctor's Theme" are exceptionally haunting, even though they're short - just under two minutes. "Doomsday" brings back every bit of sadness and remorse as Rose is separated from the Doctor forever. That scene is played out in melodic melancholy with this track; but it's a fabulous, bass-driven piece that will send a chill down your spine if you are a true fan of the series.
I guess I never really gave much thought to the incidental music of a TV show, but I have a new appreciation for it. This soundtrack brings alive some favorite moments, but the music itself is simply enjoyable to listen to. And as a writer, it's the perfect music to have playing whilst writing.

All I was hoping for was an uncut version of the theme. We get that and way more! We get a short and long version. We also get the tear-jerking "Doomsday," reminding us of when the Doctor gets seperated from Rose. And the best surprise is "Song for Ten," the song that plays in "The Christmas Invasion" when the Doctor is picking out his new outfit! Wow! Get this CD!

I don't usually go for Soundtracks... but, occassionaly there is one that is worth a listen. Murray Gold does a great job of composing music for this series. Neil Hannon performs two of the songs. The CD compliation of Series 1 and 2 of the New Doctor Who is a nice listen. Great to have playing while working away on the computer.
