This is a must have for any roadtrip or restaurant visit. My daughter is 4 years old and loves it. What a disappointment that it only lasted 8 months. Never dropped it or abused it, but last week it no longer powers on. Replaced it with a new (pink) regular Leapster.
My impression of the TV feature on the L-max is just marketing hype to try and extend the product life. Terrible graphics quality and what is the point when you need the pen and touch screen? If your kid wants to play games at home stick with PC games or a playstation. btw, All L-max games play on the regular leapster.
Another complaint is that you can't use it outdoors. Does not have a reflective LCD screen like cell phones and PDAs so bright light washes out the screen. Forget trying to use it at the park or by the pool on vacation (but still a must have for the plane!)
So, I give the product 5 stars for educational and entertainment value, but only 3 stars for quality.

I bought this learning game for my 6 yr old. She really enjoys it and is able to maneuver through the menu with minimum assistance. The games that can be bought for this system seem very educational and challenging.
The only downside to this purchase was Amazon took up to 8 days before they even shipped the game to me. I was very disappointed with the shipping portion of my purchase. I would suggest purchasing from a private vendor on the website. They are more expedient getting you their products.

I bought this for a friend's little boy, whom I told is very bright and astute. The little boy called Lake Allen or Baby Lake was 2.5 years old when I bought this learning toy for him. His mother Nora was very pleased with both the toy and her baby boy's receptivity. I just hope that this toy doesn't put this little boy in a position of an early emancipation.

i purchased this for my 4 year old disney princess loving - pink pink pink - will only wear a dress little girl...hoping that she would play with it...thankfully - she loves it!!! we bought the princess game - of course - and that initially got her involved, but we also purchased the kindergarten game and she is way more interested in that than the princess!! so, we are very pleased - it has helped her in so many ways. not only educationally - which is pretty remarkable, but also hand eye cordination has gone through the roof in a short period of time. great purchase. totally satisfied. 100% recommended.

This toy is a big hit with my 5 yr. old. We have always had the leap frog videos and this toy is right up there with those as far as good educational value and something that grabs their interest. Great for the car.
