Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good times
I love this game! I play it all the time! It makes me giggle just to think about it!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great for kids
I have two daughters, 8 and 10, that love video games and have really enjoyed this one. The DS Lite system is great for trips or any time the kids are stuck in a place where they need to keep quiet for a little bit.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - The "New" Super Mario Bros.
Well, to start:

Nintendo accidentally called it "New Super Mario Bros." What they really meant was, "New Levels, Old Super Mario Stuff."

The only new things in this game are the minigames and the levels. The overall gameplay would've been better on the Super Nintendo with Super Mario World.

There are a couple of new songs, but the a lot of the music (i.e. underground, invincible, mushroom houses) are simply the exact same music from Super Mario All-Stars on the Super NES and Super Mario 64. Even the Mega Mushroom and the Micro Mushroom were taken from Mario 64 and placed into this game. There are no new characters, simply less characters.

Toad, the little mushroom man, has been replaced with Toadsworth from Mario Party.

Yoshi is completely missing (Besides in the minigames).

Bowser only makes 2 appearances... the first being the boss battles from Super Mario Bros (NES), the second being exactly the same as the first, except for the fact that he is a skeleton and Bowser Jr. is present.

The feature of carring around an extra power-up (From Super Mario World) is present, only you have to touch it on the touch screen rather than pressing "select," either wasting time pulling out your stylus or getting the corner of your screen greasy. Not a big deal. But touching the touch screen with anything besides a Nintendo approved stylus can cause scratching.

On the subject of power-ups, there are simply too many. They can get confusing and some Star Coins and second exits require the Micro Mushroom which is tedious and timely to acquire, and takes even longer to get one into your inventory for a safe travel through the level you need it on. The invincible star lasts about five seconds, and when using it, you hold down the "run" button, and you accelerate to maximum speed, completeley skipping normal running speed. (i.e. 1 is walking, 2 is tapping the run button, 3 is normal running, and 8 is running with the star. it goes like this: 1-2-8.)
The Blue Shell power-up is helpful if you are lacking in talent or if you simply want to hold one button for three minutes and watch the level go by.
The Mega Mushroom is as it would normally be in Super Mario 64, the only difference is that you can only move in 3 directions: left, right, and up.

After you beat the game, you feel the need to go through and collect all three Star Coins from every single level, unlock worlds 4 and 7 (which require beating worlds 2 and 5's bosses with Micro Mushrooms), and opening all the second exits. After that, all you really want to do is play the watered down version of 5-hand poker in the minigames section.

All-in-all, its a pancake of Super Mario Bros, Super Mario World, and Super Mario 64 with new levels and minigames. I wish I would've rented it instead of paying $35 for it at GameStop.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Good stuff
My son plays this non stop. But as with all of these types of games eventually they get tired of it. I would recommend it, it is fun and entertaining and my 6 year old loves it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Fun Game, But I Really Bad Mistake From Nintendo!!
I did enjoy this game (I beat it three times already). My friend recently purchased the game on his DS Lite (I have a original DS). My friend and I were playing "Mario Vs. Luigi" and we had a blast. We weren't actually fighting in the mode we where just walking around trying to find secrets and glitches!! I was playing as Luigi and got a Fire Flower... I was really angry, Luigi's Fire Balls were RED!! Why not Green?? Nintendo made a big mistake for a fan of Luigi (like me). But I didn't return the game in oh no never. Playing the real game was fun but too easy I found myself beating the game in less than 4 hrs. . Out of this whole game I would say "Mario Vs. Luigi" is the funnest Mode, Playing the real game adds some backup and was pretty fun!!
