I had never seen the miniseries The Sacketts. Sorry I missed it. I am so glad I didn't miss these DVD's. I will watch them again and again. Although I had watched "The Shadow Riders" and loved it. I was still very impressed with this trio Tom Selleck, Sam Elliot and Jeff Osterhage as the Sacketts. These actors were so awesome and still are but together they were a match made even more awesome. The Sacketts, Tell, Orin and Tryel were law bidding, fair, gentle natured and they really looked out for each other. BUT when their family or friends were threatened they stood up and took the bad guys down. The supporting cast couldn't have been better. Totally delightful and well worth every minute of my time.

Wow! What an incredibly boring and stupid movie! How dare you reviewers mention "The Sacketts" and "Lonesome Dove" in the same sentence!! The acting in this movie was so bad it's a wonder any of the actors were ever offered another part. Corny, cheesy, and a waste of time.

I am a big fan of Tom Selleck and Sam Elliott. I bought this DVD because of them and the glowing reviews. I have to say that I didn't enjoy this one at all for many reasons.
I watched the first hour before I gave up on it and did not find one scene to be memorable or engrossing. The characters were all stereotypes with no real development to make them real. Tom Selleck's character lacked all the touches that made his other characters special. The plot was typical cowboy cliches. The soundtrack was loud, extremely dated, and annoying.
I could sit and watch all eight hours of Lonesome Dove at one time or a dozen hours of Deadwood. I didn't even bother to finish watching this and I don't feel like I missed anything. If it had been good enough to keep watching, I would have given it two stars.
Oh well, back to Quigley Down Under, Crossfire Trail, and Monte Walsh for me.

One of the best 'Made For T.V.' Westerns EVER! With a cast of 'Veterans' and
the best of the 'New Breed' this faithful adaptation of Louie L'Amour's SACKETT novels (The Daybreakers And Sackett) Has the look and feel of the big screen westerns of the 1950's. The scenery is a feast for the eyes and the script and acting is far above the standard for T.V. fare.
If you like westerns Or are tired of crappy westerns, Check This Movie Out. You will not be disappointed.
