I found watching the first season of the Dog Whisperer to be a truly life changing experience. I am one of those who had always thought of my dogs as furry children, and although they are good dogs, I know that they have never looked at me as their pack leader in their 12 and 14 years of life. I also wanted to strongly disagree with some of the reviews that call Cesar's methods cruel and say that he is getting them to obey through fear. From what I could see on every one of the shows, he never used or reccomended pain as a method of discipline, the dogs listened, but never seemed fearful of him. In fact they seemed to love him sometimes more than their own owners. He understood them. I would highly reccomend this DVD to anyone who has or is interested in getting a dog.

I teach dog training classes myself, and many of my students recommended this to me. I just ask of you to be a critical thinker while watching it. There are many things I agree with Cesar about, and a few things I think are incorrect and would never do. Don't take it as a whole. Pick what you feel right about and let the rest go. The other thing that bothers me is that you don't get to see long term results. The techniques are no good if they won't last. I wish they would do check- ins several months later to see the progress.

Ceasar Millan is not only amazing at what he does but he shows you that you can do the same things yourself. My dog wouldn't walk two feet without sniffing the ground and pulling on the leash to walk where he wanted to go. Now, with Ceasar's training tips from the DVD's my dog walks phenominally - and he's a BEAGLE!!! Sniffing is his forte.
I recommmend these DVD's for anyone that wants to fix ANY bad habit their dog may have - it covers EVERYTHING!!

I rescue & rehabilitate dogs and was looking for help/tips on dealing with some of the more challenging issues (or dogs) I take in. I find Cesar Millan's methods mostly helpful although I wish there were less reiteration of the problem and more tips/explanation of the solution. The one thing that would have made this purchase more helpful to me is if the summaries of the episodes better explained the behavior challenges. I could have used an index---FOR EXAMPLE: if you are having problems with separation anxiety, check out Episodes 2, 3, 6.
Anyway, I have no regrets about the big investment.

Cesar offers GREAT advice for working with your dog. If you didn't see it yourself, you wouldn't believe it was possible. A wonderful gift for the new dog owner on your holiday list.
