Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Such a Disappointment
OMG... what a mess. While I didn't expect it to be as wonderful as the original series I certainly didn't expect it to be as badly done as it was. Other than Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse, the casting (in my opinion) was all wrong. This movie was sleazy and stupid. They made Jessica Simpson look and act like trash as Daisy Duke -- Catherine Bach never seemed so sleazy... she was innocent and cute/pretty. Seann William Scott and Johnny Knoxville were totally bafoonish...just awful! The original Bo and Luke Duke (John Schneider and Tom Wopat) were smart, sweet and mischeivious in an innocent way. The only thing original about this movie was the General Lee...

Sleazy and stupid. So not worth the price of admission or the price of a DVD. Watch this on cable and call it a day. You are missing nothing!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Over rated in some placed
I was a little bit disapointed when I watched the movie alot of the characters on the movie should have been replaced with new cast members. I felt the roll of Boss Hogg was wrong and Burt Reynolds shouldn't have been there at all. Another charactors who played Bo and Duke were good for the part but they didn't fit the profile the pair looked out of place, they should have been in the city rather in a small country place.
The ones who suited the movie were Jesse (Willie Nelson) he fitted the build and the charactor of Uncle Jesse it was watching the Uncle Jesse from the TV show.
Daisy Duke (jessica Simpson) played it well but the Directors needed to try and stop getting her to walk around in her bikini or the cameras should stop panning down to her legs. Other actors who played the characters of the sherriff, Enos, Couter, were spot on.
But the down side was that I agreed with the one who played the orginal Bo Duke (John Schinder)(Excuss spelling.) He told one reporter in New Zealand (My home country) that the movie lacked family values (I think it was in those words) and I agree.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Entertaining movie
Good movie but the best part about this dvd is the special features. I think I almost enjoyed those more! They go really in depth about how they got the General Lee to do the stunts they needed the car to do and there are some great outtakes. If you're going to buy this movie, this edition is the one to buy.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Terrible
I remember watching the original Dukes of Hazzard quite faithfully growing up and I loved the show. What made the show so great was the chemistry among all the actors and actresses. This 2005 movie version lacked that chemistry. In the original show Bo and Luke were the good guys and were not dumb but the Bo and Luke for the movie, even though they were the good guys, were portrayed more as dumb guys. Their characters would have been fine for Dumb and Dumber but not this movie. In the movie they also seemed to put each other down occasionally rather than be a real team. The characters in the movie just did not match what they were in the original TV show. I'm glad that when I saw it, I did not see it in the theater or even rent the DVD. I was able to see it for free. I'm glad I did not waste my money seeing it. That's why I titled this article "Terrible" because that's what it is.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - It could have been worse...
I think that a lot of the criticism that The Dukes of Hazzard has received is a bit too harsh. No, it isn't a particularly good movie, but if you think about the TV show on which it is based, what can you expect? Good ol' boys racing cars and outwitting dimwitted, corrupt law enforcement officers doesn't really lay a foundation for high-end cinema. If you could tolerate the 80's TV show then you'll probably find this movie to be tolerable as well - unless you find the drug usage and brief nudity distasteful, as the wholesome Dukes you remember aren't here. The Dukes of Hazzard isn't as good as movies like Smokey and the Bandit or Cannonball Run, but if you like movies of that nature then you may find some entertainment value in the Dukes. There's no shame in enjoying an occasional mindless car chase movie even if it is predictable and poorly cast. It's not unwatchable as many people are suggesting, but their frustrations are not unfounded.
