The serenity theme along with the end credits should have been apart of a larger piece of music. Most every other piece of music apart from "going for a ride" sounds more like ambient background music that doesnt lend itself to listening. Don't get me wrong, Newman really hit it out of the park with "end credits", "serenity" and "rebuilding serenity" it sounds great but i was hoping that the parts we heard in the movie would be a piece of a much larger piece of music. Also the music itself is too orchestral in nature, not that its a bad thing its just that the firefly soundtrack was able to get more from less as far as the number of instruments used. This cd is definately worth it for "serenity" and "end credits" if you are a fan of the music of this series.

"Shiny" bits here and there. The Score works much better IN the film, than without. (Duh!) Workmanlike background music with occasional charm of original "Firefly" TV scores.

If your a fan of the series and the movie then you might enjoy this. On its own it is still good music. I have enjoyed it so far.

I found this movie very good - maybe not quite as exciting as watching the Firefly series in rapid-fire sequence, but time well spent. It never came to a theatre near me and I saw it for the first time on DVD. I hope that many others do the same. One warning: If you have never seen the original short-lived series, you will want to rush out and purchase the DVD boxed set after seeing this movie. Rumors are flying about the possibility of the series being revived. I hope that it comes to pass soon enough to catch the interest of new fans as well as the old fans.

I agree with other reviewers that this simply did not capture the mood or intensity of the film. I love the movie and saw it in theaters twice and bought the DVD as soon as it came out. I was most disappointed with Track 3 "Serenity". This was a pretty dramatic scene and I loved the music in the movie when the Serenity is first shown as it enters the atmosphere of a planet. Unfortunately, at only 51 seconds long, Track 3 merely gets you started with that feeling and then dumps you. Surely the composer could have adapted that music for the soundtrack rather than just dumping the listener wanting more.
