I was 5 years old in 1955 and was "blown away" by the Mickey Mouse Club when it first came on TV. But I became a fanatic over Spin and Marty when the serial first started. I literally counted the hours until the next episode would be shown. It was the most exciting thing on TV for me. I loved horses, thought Spin was THE coolest guy on TV (at age 14) and grew to like the Marty character as well as most of the others on the show. At age 5 your world view is easily swayed. When I saw the Triple R ranch and kids riding horses I nearly flipped. Flash forward 50 years and I watch these serials again with a different perspective. They are still immensely enjoyable even though the acting, writing and directing is rather sub-par with today's standards. But that just adds all the more charm to it. Such a simpler time with simple themes and people who were truly nice to each other. Almost seems Utopian now...

For anyone who has ever seen Spin and Marty, this is a treasure. Now new generations of kids can be introduced to these stories. I had recorded them at one time when they were shown on the Disney Channel, but they were all out of order and had lots of ads. Now they are all compiled in the proper order and there are several segments and interviews added on. I hope they will make the sequels into DVD's as well.

I was totally thrilled with the DVD of Spin and Marty! Can't wait for the next season to be available! I always loved horses and now I remember why I always wanted a Palamino! Skyrocket was the best! Can't believe I remembered the words to the songs! What a great trip down memory lane. My Grandchildren will love this DVD because the characters and scenarios are still appropriate and interesting! My dreams came true when I bought my first horse 3 years ago (I was 59) and now I have another darling. No Palamino yet, but if I get one I'll call him Skyrocket!

I remember watching this each week on the Mickey Mouse Club. I knew my kids would really enjoy it.
Yes, the story is from a simpler time. There is no high-tech stuff, and it is in black and white. However, my (atypical) kids don't watch tv, except an occasional video from our dvd player. I felt that this would be a nice program for them to see. They just ate it up! We watched the entire 2-disks over a couple of days. They are singing the "Triple R" song. If there was a Triple R Ranch, they'd probably want to sign up.
