This reveiw is for those of you that have not seen the program on television. This is a terrific mini-series. I'm always wary about buying a video that I haven't previewed in theater or on television.
This is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. I've recommended it to everyone who is looking for a great picture. This film has everything: adventure, love, and history.
I really appreciate that the film wasn't horrified with blood splattering everywhere. Into the West is very true to emotion and thoughtful in expressing death and violence. I don't believe in the necessity to scare people into oblivion with violence and blood squirting. This is a series I would show to children and adults.
I was completely moved by the whole experience of watching this series. If no one told me I was missing pieces of the film, I wouldn't have noticed. This film needs to be watched by everyone. Yes, part of it is drama (so that people would be interested in watching), but the other part is very eye openning and as I understand it; true to history.
I highly recommend viewing this series.

This is a grand epic story paralleling white and Native American Indian families as the West is opened up for exploration and the Indians try to understand how to deal with the threat to their way of life. The story focuses on several generations of 2 families and we are shown the glory, the infamy, the ideals, the adventure, the severe hardships, the pioneer spirit and the cruelty of the 1800's in America. If you are interested in America's recent past, you must see this movie. It is real history presented in a meaningful way so that the viewer has a perspective from both sides of the story.

This series is so much more authentic in every way than most movies my husband & I have seen in regards to depicting the trials and hardships of both the Native Americans and the pioneers in the early settlement days.
Don't look for unnecessary blood and gore, for an excellent job has been done in leaving most of that to one's imagination as it should be. It's heartbreaking enough to understand what the "white man" did to the Native Americans, much less to each other in their quest for a better life.
We highly recommend this series to anyone who has not seen it.

I am glad that this movie was made as it portrays the Native Americans in a more realistic light than before in other movies & also the White American's also.Definitely enjoyed this and is a must for fans of western movies & the Native American culture.
