Due South: Season Two (3-DVD Digipack) DVD

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A great Season Two and a fine product: excellent DVDs.
First a quick note: I can find no fault with the visual or audio quality of these DVDs.

Also, and more importantly, I take great exception to the derogatory comments about Season Three. Buy and watch Season Three and decide for yourself. My take is that Callum Keith Rennie and Paul Gross make a great match as actors playing these characters (if you wish, read my review of Season Three). Most folk know by now that Ray #1 was replaced because at first they didn't expect to be able to do a third season, so he signed onto another contract. By a stroke of luck and genius, the directors were able to get Rennie to play Ray #2. And then bring back Ray #1 in the last episode of Season Three.

In any case, Season Two is even better than Season One. This was / is an extraordinary series, an example of the best that television has to offer - and a reminder of the greatness of Canadian writers, producers, directors, and actors. And husky dogs who can play the part of a wolf.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Getting Chilly
A really good DVD set. The story lines etc. are really nice and fresh on this set. Paul Gross and David Marciano are matched up perfectly in this show and really made it work. Too bad there are not anymore TV shows like this now.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic!
An absolutely unique and delightful show! BUT...stop at the end of Season Two. Season Three is almost wholly abominable.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Due South - Season 2 DVD
My family and I loved this 2nd series as well as the 1st one.
It's so much fun and always gives us a good laugh.
Not only that at times it can be sad and you really 'feel' for the characters. There's usually plenty of action too.
This is a very cleverly written series.
I wish there were more like it!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Not as good as season 1, but still worthwhile
Season 2 of Due South isn't quite up to season one's standards--creator (and subsequent Oscar winner for Crash) Paul Haggis had less to do with the show, and star Paul Gross began taking over as writer and executive producer. The show is still excellent, but the humor became broader (Leslie Nielsen's character, played straight for drama in season 1, now has persistent flatulence) and the situations less realistic. For the price it is still a great deal for fans of the show, but season 2's drop in quality presaged the further drop when the show later went into syndication. Definitely worth getting for any fan of the show; newcomers might want to check out seaon 1 before deciding to buy season 2.
