Wii Video Games

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love it!!!!!!!!!
I bought a Wii a week before I had to go back to college. I left it at home so my family could play it and I would not be distracted from my school work. I must say, I missed it every single day!!! It is extremely fun and great for the entire family. Wii sports can be played by little kids or grandparents. In fact, Wii sports is the only game you really even need if you do not want to spend much money on the other games, which can get quite expensive. Definitely a lot of fun and worth the money. It is one of the cheapest new systems out on the market and great fun!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love my Wii
In my household we currently have 7 different game consoles and this is by far my favorite. This is a great way to burn off stress and have fun late in the evening. It allows you to be a little competitive without sitting in the chair getting sore. I love the interactive aspect and have found the games to be very entertaining.

I would recomend this for someone who wants a console but wouldn't consider themselves a super-gamer. Anyone can pick this up and figure it out.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Love the Wii!
I am so happy I was able to get the Wii through Amazon! Not only does Amazon do a great job with the shipping and everything else, but the Wii is sooooooo much fun to play! My husband thought I was crazy when I told him I bought the Wii, but we now find ourselves holding tennis tournaments in our living room on a weekly basis. It is a great interactive gaming system that all ages can enjoy!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Get Up Off the Couch!
I have to agree with most of the folks here and say that this is a great game console. It doesn't have all the technological bells and whistles like true HD capability (it's only 480p), has limited internet access and doesn't play other media like DVDs (but it does play GameCube games). But it is fun.

I like the fact that you need to get up off the couch and play these games. Remember when games meant physical activity instead of sitting on a couch pressing buttons? Well, here's a game console that actually encourages physical activity. If you're a parent that wants to encourage physical activity to your kids, this is the console for you.

There are a few things to note though:
1.If you have a mounted flat screen TV, the included wired Wii sensor will be problematic. The wire won't be long enough to snake through a wall and into your A/V rack. Fortunately, a few companies have like Nyko have produced wireless sensor options. They have it here in Amazon.
2.If you want to get the most out of the Wii in terms of image fidelity for your HDTV you'll need to get component cables. These cables will allow the Wii to send 480p signals to your HDTV. Nintendo didn't bundle component cables with the Wii. You can purchase the Nintendo component cables or you can get third party options. All of which are available for purchase here at Amazon.
3.For all those who are finding it hard to get a Wii, try checking the online and brick and mortar stores on Wednesdays and Thursdays. That's usually when shipments arrive.

Now don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that the PS3 and the XBox 360 don't have their place. Both of those gaming consoles have media center-like capabilities that the Wii can't touch. In the case of the PS3, it's Blu-Ray player. But that isn't the demographic Nintendo was aiming for with this product. It was aiming for the family gaming market. And in THAT market, the Wii excels.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Hardcore gamers just don't get it
I used to have an Xbox 360, but sold it and bought a Wii.

I know a lot of hardcore gamers are sitting around scratching their heads, wondering how anyone in their right mind could pass up a masterpiece like Mass Effect or GTA4 and settle for games as simplistic Boom Blox or Wii Sports. Well, some of us get to a point where we either feel like games are getting way too complex, or we decide that playing video games for 4-5 hours a day is just not a healthy lifestyle choice and/or something we no longer have time for. In my case, it was a little bit of both.

The Wii has the kind of games that I can pick up and play for a couple of hours, put it down, then pick it back up a few weeks later and not have to try and remember how the controls work, or having to backtrack because I forgot the storyline. And I don't have to watch 3 hours of cut scenes in between levels either. It is perfect for when I occasionally just want to kill and hour or two on a Saturday afternoon, as most of the games don't require a huge time commitment to get into them. Contrast that with something like GTA4, where you literally have to play for hours just to be introduced to all the game mechanics. Why go through all that when I can just throw in Geometry Wars and start having fun immediately?

When I had my 360, the only retail game I was playing was Guitar Hero... the rest were XBLA titles. That is when I decided that the Wii was probably a better fit for me, and I have not been disappointed Sure, the graphics aren't all that impressive and the online capabilities aren't as good, but I can live with that.

A really big plus with the Wii is that I can get my non-gaming friends to play with me when they come over. They wouldn't go anywhere near the 360 controller, but the Wii is much more accessible in that regard.

I think the biggest thing I appreciate about the Wii though is how QUIET it is! The 360 sounds like a dying calf in a snowstorm when it's turned on; the only time I hear anything from my Wii is when a disc is spinning up. But even then, it's quieter than the 360 was when it was idling.
