Justice League Heroes Video Games

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great for Kids
My 3 year old son loves this game. There's not a lot of thought involved and the characters pretty much work the same with just different names for similar moves. The detail is good enough for him to recognize the characters. Basically its free baby sitting for about 1 hour a day.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Challenging and Exciting
This games is the next best thing to being a hero. Great graphics, lots of exciting locales

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - X Box version
This is a very good game, better than I expected.
The Flash, Green Lantern, Woman Woman among others need their own video games. I like the cinematics very much.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great game...still a lot of lost potential...

After about 8 reviews, one can pretty much get a feel for the games pro's and con's...but I loved playing this game so much that I felt compelled to come write a review and praise the game makers. I think this game is a must for any Justice League fan, but it COULD have been an amazing game for anyone...if they put a little more thought into it.

The pros:

First off, this game plays WAY easier than Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I loved this game, where as all the text windows and details of MUA just bored me. I liked the simplicity of things.

Graphics. The smooth graphics and animations of the game were top notch. You can't ask for anything more. Some people are complaining about the top camera view, but I thought it was fine. Plus you can zoom in for a different perspective anyway. The top view graphics feels like a gauntlet game, which is a good thing. It makes for a fun fighting game that I can come in and play without a stupid walkthrough book to tell me what to do and where to go. Sometimes people just want to bash up monsters without puzzle solving.

The powers are also wonderful. They didn't go overboard here, but they gave each character some mega cool powers that are animated great. My favorite is batman's bat beacon and superman's heat vision, but there are definitely some great moves here.

The con's

Like everyone else says...it SUCKS that you can't choose your characters every stage!! At first, I didn't care, because I liked playing each one...but as the game went on, I developed my favorites, and it stunk having to go play with others. Everyone has their own favorite character, so it bites we have to wait to use them. By the time you can actually pick your characters, you are nearing the end, so you can't really develop them...and need to just go with your strongest few to win the game. I get that the movie clips tie into the 2 characters, but just find a way to make the clips so they aren't depended on using 2 specific characters.

I love the characters, and unlockable characters, but what is the point in getting to play with them if you can't play with them whenever you want?? I unlocked all the characters, but I couldn't really enjoy them because I could only play with one new one. It takes a while to "master" each character's powers....so by the time you've mastered them, you're back to being forced to play with someone else...and next thing you know, the game is over.

This really leads into the game being too short. It wouldn't be so bad to have the game be short if you could just play it again with other characters, but you have to go back and play the same scenes with the same heroes. It's just dumb.

I really hate this trend of buying powers. I hate having an energy meter. Whatever happened to the good old days when you got so much experience, you learned a new power? Or how about being able to have all your powers from the start? The game is so short, you can't really power up any one skill too much because you need to invest in combat and health. I hate having to decide where to invest my 1 point. Lol. Like I said...if the game was a LOT longer, then it wouldn't be so bad because you could really build your character. By the time this game ends, only 3 characters can really be strong.

Summary

Awesome game, but I hope for a sequel soon where we can pick all of these characters whenever we want. It would also be fun to have some kind of arena where we could somehow duel. I'm not sure off hand how to make that fun, but I'm sure it could be somehow. Or maybe make the game more like gauntlet...more monsters so you could enjoy using all your powers...and longer battlegrounds.

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Batman is the only redeeming quality.
This game sucks. They don't feel like the heroes that they are. The only real difference between any of these superheroes is what they can and can't lift and their costumes. I don't quite think the gameplay works all that well for the Justice League. It works very well in the X-Men Dimension games and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance game, but in this game, it just feels dull. Quite possibly because almost all of the superheroes in DC are just very powerful. The game doesn't work well and it doesn't give you that good clean fun that should come with playing as one of these superheroes. They all have really hardcore powers and are cool in the comic books and in the tv shows, but once they hit the videogame world, they somehow lose all of their appeal.

The voiceovers in the game were semi-decent. I like Ron Perlman, but not as Batman. It didn't seem right. Why couldn't they get Kevin Conroy from the Animated Series? He's the best Batman ever voice wise.

This game is a major dissapointment that feels clunky, outdated, and takes away pretty much all of the fun that should be associated with a superhero. Stick with the Marvel universe games until someone else acquires the rights to make DC games. Hopefully they can do better than this pile of crap.
