Adventure 10 Movie Pack DVD

In association with Amazon.com

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Difficult to rate -- depends on what you like!
What we have here are older "public domain" movies that anyone can record and sell -- that's why this 10-pack is so cheap.

On a total of THREE DVDs, you'll get THREE Tarzan Movies, SIX Hercules movies, and one "sort of" Hercules movie.

The Tarzan titles (all black-and-white) are:

1. Tarzan and the Green Goddess, (Herman Brix as Tarzan, aka: Bruce Bennett!)

2. Tarzan's Revenge, (Glenn Morris as Tarzan)

3. Tarzan and the Trappers, (Gordon Scott as Tarzan)

These are actually three very old, but pretty darn good Tarzan films. You can get them individually at Dollar Stores for a buck each in thin cardboard packaging, the print quality being about the same as these copies.

The Hercules titles are:

1. Son of Hercules: The Land of Darkness

2. Hercules Against the Moonmen

3. Hercules and the Captive Women

4. Colussus and the Amazon Queen

5. Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon

6. Hercules Unchained

7. Devil of the Desert Versus the Son of Hercules

These are very poor garish color prints but you probably won't do better elsewhere. The films were just poorly made on a really el-cheapo budget. Most of these films appear to have been produced in Italy or thereabouts.

Frankly-speaking, these flicks are pretty awful... UNLESS you're a big fan of old, cheesey Hercules films. In that case, you've hit the jackpot! *.*

From my view, the three Tarzan films are worth the price of the package. My brother told me that he particularly likes this package because he enjoys sitting in his lounge chair in front of his TV and dozing through old black and white Tarzan films -- since they're all on Disc One (plus one Hercules entry), he can watch Tarzan to his heart's content for hours at a time... sort of.

If you want the very same Tarzan movies plus TWO more (on 2 discs), you probably would want to opt for this DVD -- the prints are a little better too:

AMC: Tarzan of the Apes: Collection

Anyway, don't be expecting anything great with this package beyond what I've told you and you won't be disappointed!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fun and funny
First things first: skip the first Tarzan movie on disc 1. That said, sit back and prepare to enjoy the other 9 films. If you like bare-chested muscle-men in chains or performing incredible athletic feats, there's plenty here to see. How about Gordon Scott as Tarzan suspended by the wrists? Or Alan Steele chained between two walls of stone trying to crush him as he strains to keep them at bay? Muscle heaven, sweat overdose, masculine power, it's all here at your fingertips.
Best of all, these movies are comical. Usually it is unintentional, such as the inevitable strong-man battle against a bear with arms and legs of human length that seems to occur in every Hercules film, but one film is definitely played for laughs: Collossus and the Amazon Queen, where Rod Taylor (yes, that one from The Birds and Young Cassidy) and Ed Fury become prisoners and breeders for lustful, 1960's-style sex kittens. Even the music enhances the comedy. Think of ancient Greece with be-bop/beatnik musicians jazzing up the atmosphere.
You will laugh. You will admire the handsome male physiques built naturally from weight-lifting and nutrition, as opposed to steroid-pumped freaks. Most of all, you will congratulate yourself for finding 9 out of 10 enjoyable films on 3 discs for $8. Genius!

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - perfect for little boys
The transfer is terrible, the movies are all MST 3K bad, but for 8 bucks we have gotten more pleasure out of these movies and anything else I can think of. Aaron the seven-year-old movie critic especially enjoys the Hercules (etc) movies. He sits transfixed, enjoying the fighting, the volcanoes and the dragons.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - "Look at the muscles on that dude-- he's got muscles in his ears!" (Firesign Theater)
The three Tarzan movies on the ADVENTURE 10 PACK are also available on Action Classics 50 Movie Pack DVD Collection, from MILL CREEK ENTERTAINMENT. All but one of the Hercules films here may be found on the Warriors 50 Movie Pack Collection. So, this modest gathering of public domain titles is a convenient small sample of both of the larger box sets at one great low price.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 10 Adventure Flicks of Public Domain Goodness
Adventure 10 Movie Pack is a collection of 10 adventure movies mostly featuring Hercules & Tarzan that have only one thing in common: they are all public domain and as such it is possible for them to be presented in highly affordable collections. I paid $7.98 for my set and that comes down to about 80 cents per movie. The way that movie tickets cost nowadays, you really cannot complain about this collection.

This deal is even better when you consider that many of the movies in this collection are available as individual movie DVD's at prices of $5 and higher. Many of the movies in this collection are presented in better condition than they are from other DVD companies.

All in all, a great deal for the money.
