Well yes I am old and everyone says this is my mid life crisis buying PSP. Better than doing something I might regret!
Anyway, the machine is awesome. I never imagined how good it feels holding it (The PSP guys!), the finish and the workmanship were way beyond my expectations. Yes it leaves a lot of fingerprints on it (My PSP is black) but if you get the protective screen shield that sticks to it then you are set for hundreds of nonstop hours of fun! I even got an "intec" leather pouch for it that works like magic and even better than the SONY pouch in the Value Pack! Even got a 2GB "sandisk" memory stick (They are getting cheaper -[...]$-) since the 32MB in the pack is useless unless you are planning not to play MP3's or Movies or.....
I use it only for the Racing & Driving Games - and only have 2! Burnout Legends & NFS Carbon City; Burnout is THE game with the best details and greatest fun and the cars look great but (to me) the higher you get in it the more impossible to finish! NFS was a very SAD experience since I tried the PS2 version and was expecting the same but alas NO. The whole game is different and the cars are not that great, the control is lousy but it is a good fun!
So be careful when buying the games; find out first how close they are to the PS2 (PSP has limited Graphic Power) - try it first then buy it or even read the reviews they REALLY help.
I heard rumors that Sony will be making a new PSP therefore expect the PSP prices to go down but not to a great degree because it is still a GREAT GIZMO to have.
Any guys out there my age...go for it...it is a better entertainment specifically those long hours on the toilet seat or even long flights (But dont tilt on the guy next to you turning on tight bends while racing! They dont like it!)

This brings DVD quality video, and playstation two graphics/gaming to the palm of your hands. The price is slowly coming down on these, and now is as good of time as any to buy this system. The title selectin continues to grow (except for the movie selection, dwindling, but still coming), and the games are as child frindly to mature as you want. This also plays mp3's, and easy usb connection to other systems. With a big screen and nicely spaced controls, good playability, it is the leader in the handheld gaming market, one of the few. Worth buying if you travel, or are always on the move and must game on the go.

Holy Crud that's a lot of reviews. As i am writing this there are 1208 reviews. I'd just like to point out to none tech savvy ppl, it's not hard to do the fancy stuff on psp like music, movies, internet. if u r having trouble u can find like 100,000 videos on youtube and other places telling you exactly how to do it. Im getting a PSP for XMAS this year yay! Sorry for having a long review. I know it wasnt too helpful but i tried to tell u thats all.

OK IT AL COMES DOWN TO THIS.....IFF YOU WANT A PORTABLE THAT PLAYS DIGITAL MUSIC FILES JUST LIKE AN IPOD.....PLAYS DVD-QUALITY MOVIES;.....HAS A BIGGER SCREEN THAN ANY OTHER HANDHELD; AND SELLS FOR ABOUT $[...].......THEN YOU SHOULD GET...THE SONY PSP,WHICH HAS ALL THAT AND MORE IF YOU WANT A PORTABLE THAT HAS 2 SCREEN DISPLAYS HAS A BUILT IN MICROPHONE....GIVES YOU A FUN UNIQUE NEW WAY TO CONTORL GAMES USING A TOUCH SCREEN......HAS BATTERIES THAT LAST ABOUT TWICE AS LONG AS THOSE OF THE PSP; AND SELLS FOR ABOUT $[...] THEN YOU SHOULD GET...THE NINTENDO DS, WHICH OFFERS THIS PLUS MORE. okay...everyone knows that the psp is an amazing product...
but im here bout the flaws...there aren't many, but i just want to inform you bout them
1.screen gets scratched easily(get a protective screen for it)
2.screen sometimes gets dead pixels
3.it is huge! it's true that you dont want a tiny screen to watch movies on it, but it's just too big..and bulky
4.music can be tough to put into it. first, it has to be in a mp3, mp4, wma etc. formats... so you'll have to convert it if it isn't already ( i use nero 7.3). then, you'll transfer it into a file...very in convienant! you cant order the files unless you change the file name so that's it's in alphabetical order...and sometimes,the title(song name) doesn't show up and you have to manually insert it(into every song!!). same goes for the artist. unlike an ipod, it doesn't have a special software to organize and import music(such as itunes) which makes it harder. well..actually, i lied, there is the "psp media manager" which can help you inport videos and music etc. but!..you have to pay like 20 bucks for the dumb thing! im not just gonna dish out 20 bucks to import music and videos!!..even if it's easier..you'll manage with the music though, it just takes time to put it into the order you like...
5.there's nothing wrong with the umd videos..but if you want to inport your own videos, then there's a problem..to have it at an excellant resolution like the umd...a whole movie(1.5 hours approx.) takes up like 1 or 2 gig! or to get it at a reasonable resolution...maybe 700mb take or give some mb. just like the music though...you have to convert it into the correct format...
6.memory!! this only comes with a 32mb memory stick...for me to shorten that for you...that's bout...8 songs. yeah...you're gonna need a lot more memory than that..if you want music on it...a 512mg will get you bout 120 song...depends on how long your songs are. i suggest a 2g memory..but if that's too expensive, go with 1g(bout 30 dollars...not sure..) dont try to import movies into our psp if you dont have lots of memory though...or else it'll look bad..you can alwaysstick to umd's.
7.umd's are wayyy to expensive! a movie is about 20 dollars....15 if it's an old one. games ar extrememly over priced, it's about 50 dollars! for a 1 year old(or 2 years) game, maybe 30...rarely are games 20 though(unless they suck!). but one game that's 20 dollars right now that i have and enjoy is burnout. it' a good game, but short.
8.games...of course! the games are really good...the graphics are usually nice(that really depends on which game) the only flaw i see is that it's really expensive..like stated above
9.internet is fine to me..little tiny flas here and there not much
10.nothing wrong with photos really...
11.the controls(d-pad, analog stick, triangle, square etc.) is fine..it resembles the ps2 controller..which is nice....only complaint is the analog stick, it just makes aiming in shooting games diffucult and but besides that...nothing else is wrong
dont get me wrong though, i love my psp...it's an awesome machine, there are just some tiny things that really piss you off sometimes. but the amount of flaws compared to the pros of the psp is tiny..the psp is a very useful product..i suggest you buy it, but just be aware about the flas that come with it. enjoy your psp!
