This is one of my favorite decorations. I tried to keep it out all year, but my sister made me put it away. :)

I'd been looking for a nativity scene for my kids to play with, so I bought this one a couple years ago. First of all, don't buy it from Amazon. I've never seen it listed for this much!
Pros: My 2 kids have had a good time playing with it. They don't seem to notice the flaws.
Cons: Laura the Carrot singing O Little Town of Bethlahem is only cute ONCE. After that you'll want to take the batteries out to save your sanity. There is no volume control, and she's, as always, very out of tune.
Jimmy and Jerry don't stay in their cow suit. This frustrated my kids.
The stable isn't very stable. It (and the plastic piles of straw)falls over very easily. And the manger legs kept falling off.
This manger scene will be replaced with the Little People set at our house this Christmas.

This is a great toy for the older three to four range. They enjoy that all of the nativity characters are made up of the Veggie Tales characters, which they know and love. Children at this age level can identify them and identify with them. They have great fun sharing and playing cooperatively in either teams or groups of three. It is a classroom favorite.

I am a fan of nativities, I think they are great as they tell the story of the birth of Jesus. When you have a great group like Big Idea make a nativity that children can not only look at but play with, it is even better. The star (featuring Laura Carrot) sings, and Jimmy and Jerry Gourd both fit into the cow costume. It would be nice if Baby Jesus could come out of the manger, but I and my kids both love it. It is also nice that it has music, but mostly it is imaginative play which is great. I would recommend this and plan to get a few more for other family and friends next year.

Our son loves VeggieTales--and this Nativity was awesome for him to begin working with the Nativity. He can touch it and even play with it--not so with most Nativities! He relates to it and enjoyed through the Christmas Season. Came quickly and in perfect shape.
