Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A great accompanying piece for real '24' fans
Rather surprisingly, this is great album. I don't think many '24' viewers will rate Callery's music as vital for the series, as it almost always plays the background and colors the scenes without containing hum-along themes of grandeur and heroism. But on the CD Callery's score reveals itself as complex, extremely varied and worthy of more than a casual listen. Great liner notes comments on each piece and it's usage in the series. Recommended!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You'll be listening to "24" for more than 24
It is a rarity for a television show to be scored well, let alone have a hugely original one (what was different scorewise between "Family Matters" and "Full House"?). Sure, most people probably aren't paying attention to the score while watching, say, "According to Jim," but some do, at least in part. As a student filmmaker, I can't HELP but pay attention to such things, well, 24/7.

What makes Sean Callery's score so amazing is that it functions just like a score for film would. It easily evokes a large range of emotions and moods from the viewer all while maintaining a uniform style and using definitive themes. I particularly liked that for such an energetic show, there could still be somber, subtle piano tracks that were even remeniscent of the work of Thomas Newman (but were still completely original).

If you are a huge fan of the show itself like I am and you also enjoy instrumental film soundtracks, or if you happen to like kinetic dance music (the tracks "Up and Down Stairs" and "Coliseum Finale" will do you well), this CD is for you.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Soundtrack to a Great Show
Sean Callery's score to the TV show "24" fits perfectly. Some reviewers have complained of the pieces here that are moody, but I find the CD strikes a nice balance between the intense parts and the moody ones. Another nice touch was to wait until Season Three before releasing this music. There seems to be a rush on most TV soundtracks to get some product out there as soon as possible, and it normally ends up inferior. Great TV show, great soundtrack!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Excellent score
You won't be disappointed. While Mark S Townend was incorrect, John Williams did not do Band of Brothers, Michael Kamen did.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Best of 24
For a consistantly impressive series like 24 that, in it's fourth season has not yet begun to grow tired or repetative, you would expect a soundtrack to match the pace and tempo of Kiefer Sutherlands worst three days and succesfully mirror the mood and atmosphere of the series.

Generally speaking the music of a TV series does little except support the work on screen and tends to be dull and unremarkable when heard by itself (the notable exception to this rule being the incredibly emotive support of John Williams to "Band of Brothers"). In this case however, 24 has done as well in its background soundtrack as it has on it's screen play and storylines.

This CD has managed to sift through 72 hours of backing music and pick out every track that during the series lept out at you as remarkable. There is a succesful mix of the more action packed techno tracks ("Jack on the Move", "Up and Down Stairs" and "Coliseum Finale") with slower, moodier tension builders ("Jack in the Limo", "Alexis" and "In Pursuit of Kyle") and the deep, emotive tracks that highlight key events in Jacks day ("Jacks Revenge at the Docks", "Jack tells Kim...." and "Jacks Humanity").

For fans of the series this CD will take you back to the best moments of the three seasons. For newcomers or those who have just browsed by, this album has enough to it to be a worthwhile purchase without having to understand the background of each scene the track is referenced to.

An excellent mix of moody, well written music that does as much credit to the series as the series does for the soundtrack.
