...hopefully there will be a better one released in the future. As previous reviewers have mentioned, this box set primarily focuses on Rodney's `80s TV and HBO specials (as opposed to his standup routine). The only things that save these often embarrassing shows are the bits that Rodney does with Sam Kinison and Rosanne Barr--but even then just barely. And it's disappointing not to see more of his Tonight Show appearances or even a single appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, as these were some of Rodney's truly magical moments.
Perhaps one day there will be a compilation of Rodney's better standup moments released on DVD. Until that time, we will have to settle for this flawed box set, which only scratches the surface of his comedic genius.

Rodney is great. This box set was put together perfectly. I spent a whole Sunday (literally 20 hrs) watching these DVD's. Then I spent the following weeks watching them over and over again with friends and family. I have yet to find one person who doesn't like Rodney's stand-up or skits.
Seriously, about 95% of the footage in this compilation is gut busting comedy at its best.

This collection is not just the best of Rodney; it's the best of comedy as well.
It's odd, the most recent footage is from 1989 (that's 17 years ago) and this collection has just becoming available. This shows how truly ahead of his time Rodney was. Usually comedy becomes outdated in matter of years, but somehow Rodney has stayed fresh.
I am too young to even remember Rodney on live television. However, his works still gets me rolling.

Rodney Dangerfeild is always hillarious. I don't like the fact that this spotlight reveiw guy up there on his high horse is dropping such petty complaints. I don't care how many books he's read, he's LAME.
THIS IS THE ONLY STAND UP PACKAGE AVAILABLE! WHAT DO YOU WANT, HE IS NO LONGER ALIVE TO RELEASE NEW MATERIAL! GIVE HIM SOME F'IN RESPECT!
This box had everything I hoped for, material from days past, all the classics. The network TV specials are a little bit goofy but I still enjoyed them.

This set is rodney through the 80's and 90's. I've seen Rodney in person more times than I can count. I worked as a body guard at Westbury for years and met the man many times. This set is a mix of his work. His one liners made him who he was, but you do here the same lines over and over.
If you buy this set as a rememberence of the man and his act you won't be sorry. This is a mix of his acts, even Carson would get old if they showed them all back to back.
I gave the set 5 stars because of the man. He was one of a kind that could never be replaced.
