SNAP! X-Men (Jewel Case) Video Games

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Buyer Beware: What A Disgrace...... And A Waste Of Time!
Where do I start? This CD is a collection of 10 digital X-Men issues from about 1975. (X-Men #94-102). Unlike the other CD's in this "SNAP!" Marvel Digital Comic Series, this one here is extremely poor! Why? Instead of depicting the first 10 "origin" issues of the X-Men team (Like the other CD's in this series), we're given a bunch of mediocre 1970's X-Men:Team 2 adventures... By Team 2, I mean the second team of X-Men that consisted of Nightcrawler, Storm, Wolverine etc. Sure there's nothing wrong with this version of the X-Men, but why focus the whole package on just this line up?

"X-Men #94, #95 and the "Giant-Size X-Men #1" issues included on this CD are the only issues of any value. Why? Because the rest of the issues are part of "The Phoenix Saga" story, and the storyline is INCOMPLETE!!! That's right, the CD ends with issue #102, which was nowhere near the end of "The Phoenix Saga". That issue ends with the final panel depicting the X-Men defeated and a big caption advertising the next issue, - an issue that is NOT even included on this CD collection. What's the use of reading issues #96 to #102 if THERE IS NO ENDING?! What a disgrace! What a joke!

I never really cared for Dave Cockrum's X-Men artwork either, (No disrespect to the man, he is an excellent artist) but he was one of the title's most forgettable artists of that time, but then again 80% of the X-Men comics of the 1970's were mediocre at best anyway.... They should have included some of John Byrne's X-Men work or at least the first 10 issues of Jim Lee's early 1990's X-Men series. What an utter disgrace this CD is! The potential here has been wasted severely...... But still, these issues included on the CD are way better than any of the new X-Men titles that have been released in recent history (1998-2004).

Overall, I'd say this CD is for die-hard X-Men fans only. It is an INCOMPLETE collection and a waste of time. I wouldn't even give this pile away as a present..... Buyer Beware!
